The window on my front passenger door dropped last night on the way to work. Now at home trying to remove the door card and see if i can do any kind of repair myself but cant remove the door card.

Looks like there are screws behind the handle that I cant get to to remove.....anyone else removed this and got any tips?

Also anyone else had their window drop?

- remove tweeter

- remove part of the door handle

- remove the electric window switch

- remove torx screws around the sides/bottom

- remove the screw from behind the electric window switch

- remove the screws from the grab handle

- pull door trim away at bottom and disconnect the puddle light

- with bottom of trim away from the door push up to get the trim to apart along the bottom of the window open / along the weather strip seal.

- disconnect the door release cable from the back of the trim to the handle

If the window glass has dropped when one of the plastic clips holding the glass has probably broken, a pretty common fault. I think there are new metal clips as a replacement..... Not sure if VAG will supply them though, you might need to look on ebay.

You can get a repair kit from a VAG main dealer or TPS.

The whole front of it unclips, leaving the back side of it attached to the door. It can be rather difficult. I broke the first one I pulled off (but that was in a scrap yard and it was pouring down with rain!) - all I wanted was the glass from the door :'(

iirc, pulling from both ends and trying to keep it parallel to the door is key (don't try and do one end at a time).

Door card off successfully. Now found window is at least still on the runners!! Closed and secured for the night however also found snapped wire. Is this the clip someone was talking about? Will post pics once get laptop hamsters warmed up and running

regulator repair kit £20 from ebay.

New regulator how much??

weighing up options as whether to attempt repair myself or whether just to splash the cash. I have the door card off so no difference that way.

Anyone done this and recommend repair?
