I'm with swift cover and they don't allow any mods as far as I could see. I like the fact you can do everything online with them though, makes it so much easier than running up a massive phonebill!

It was done on the net for a lower price and they then ring if you choose to take out the policy, which is when you declare the mods mate

any tips to try and get mine down?

add your parents as named drivers, im 20, no years no claims and 2 years driving, costs me a grand with admiral, adding my mum and dad on reduced it by 400 quid!

any tips to try and get mine down?

you could try going on the 10 month bonus accelerator policy with elephant or admiral, that way you can build up your no-claims bonus a bit quicker. On mine i have included both my parents although they won't be driving the car and this helped to knock about £200 off the price. you could always try admiral multi car

i've already got 3 years no claims

i wonder if i add my mum or something that'll bring it down.

deffo wud bring it dwn m8 as long as her license got no major offences lol

it should do. i was quoted about £1,100 on just my own and then after i added my parents it went down to £825.

standard apart from a dent from when i reversed into a wheelie bin lol need to sell me other car before i do anything to the fabia

Hey guys,

From N.I too and I just paid £554.00 @ the start of February for my insurance with Direct Line. I am coming 26 @ end of this month and got 4 years no claims bonus. Last year I paid £530, so I was well impressed. I managed to get £30 discount cause my dad insured his car with Direct Line that very morning and when I called up to renew mine they asked did I or any1 else in my family have insurance with Direct Line and they checked it out and said they could give me a discount :)

Cant remember if they asked but I did my advanced motorist test back about 4 years ago, only some companies recognise this and will give you discount.

I'm 21 from the scum capital of the south (croydon)

Have 1 years NCB, a major multi car claim against me.

This years it was £1200 fc

Getting quotes of £850 FC for may time.

On a (currently standard) Polo which group 23 (so higher than the Fabia) I'm getting quotes of £1,000 at 20 with 2y9m license and 2y NCB (no crashes or anything). A derv Mondeo estate is more to insure oddly. :wonder:

@Ryan, I found that saying I was a main driving (rather than 'occasional or shared') and doing more miles made mine come down. I'm guessing they're taking the view I'm more familuar with the car, and less likely to crash? Adding parents to mine makes about 100% (of the cheaper price) difference (so £2k to £1k), although people in some trades, such as motor or media may cost more than others. Got any uncles/aunts/partners to add? The more the merrier with firms like Admiral it seems.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but this isn't cheaper long term based on my findings (bear with me!):

To insure me with 1y9m license 1yNCB = £1,600

To insure me with 2y license and 1yNCB = £1,300

To insure me with 1y9m license and 2yNCB = £1,500.

In short, to have a license for an extra 2months is worth a much bigger reduction in premium than a years NCB, which is how they make their money, as you'll have 2months less license for every years worth of NCB. They're not gonna do something like that without gain for themselves.

@OP: tried any of the specialists that are sponsors on this forum?

Worth an ask.

You'll only reduce your premium by shopping around as much as you can, and being prepared to move insurers each year. At least in my experience...

i know that. its just that for the first 2 years of my driving experience i wasn't on my own insurance policy, so i'm using this in order to try and build my no claims bonus up a bit quicker, in order to bring my no claims bonus closer to my total years driving

I decided to nip into the local NFU Mutual branch in Blackburn and got told that my postcode is uninsurable :(

I use the compare sites on the internet,

Strange things happen, it appears like car sales at the end of the month or before new plates due

Beginning of month AA RAC ADMIRAL etc all about £450 fully comp, 20th of month dropped to £412 27th of month £388, then back up again beginning of month

one month the AA quote was down to £302??? targets to meet ?? I really do not know

Tried to support the insurers who support the BRISKODA SITE but, the basic vrs se no mods was over £180 more than the major companies

though I believe they are BROKERS not insurers, so should find the best deal available, no doubt using the net or a private net as used to be before the internet was up and running

The best deal is to take a very high excess like £500 and if you have a claim below £1000 pay it yourself For you sure as hell will pay four fold back to them in increased premiums if you do claim less than that

So you are insured if you right off a car or cars or kill someone

A credit card loan at 30% for £1000 damage repair, would be cheaper than increased premiums for five years

This is my way of thinking too

Matt

Try sky insurers who are a sponsor 625 with mods declared

Also I've only got 1 year no claim but they said if I can prove the past 2 years on my dads they will give me a extra ncb

24 6 years no claims no points all mods declared 650.

Another insurance quote refused due to my postcode and car modifications

Just done mine again, £685 for the year, all mods declared includin power and times below, 24 years old, 2 years NCB

I decided to nip into the local NFU Mutual branch in Blackburn and got told that my postcode is uninsurable :(

And we know the reason behind that don't we

Did a bit of shopping around and then phoned Quinns. They were happy to match the cheapest quote of £650.
