Fabia vrs - for sale soon - mot or not?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Will be selling the fabia vrs very soon. Just a question for potential buyers. Mot is due in June and service in July.

Should I get these done before sale? I could do with shifting it a bit quicker than June though So not sure what to do.

It's an 04 plate, red, 69k miles, full history but not all skoda. Tidy, but lacquer coming off one corner of rear bumper. Goes well, good fun, but size is an issue so after a larger car. Tax till september. 5 grand?

Thanks,

Sam

I'd say MOT is fairly essential to a quick sale. Servicing is one of those things. Personally, I'd not spend any money I didn't have to. It's likely the buyer will try and use it as a bargaining chip, so build that £100-£250 into the asking price.

This,

I'm trying to sell a 206 at the moment http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320664746914&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Had 3 people watching it last week with the MOT due to expire in the next 2 weeks.

Getting it MOT'd next week and already got 7 watchers :)

If it's going sometime in early March don't bother, Still about 3 months on it, If it gets to within 6-8 weeks get it re-tested.

theres still plenty of mot on the motor up to the new owner...i wouldn't be putting mot on it unless it was due within a few weeks of the sale

A year's MOT says 2 things, it's legal for 12 months and there are no immediate big bills to pay as thcatch has just been looked over by someone who is theoretically independent. It's sort of a reassurance.

I've just noticed the bit about the lacquer peel etc. I'd have to say £5k sounds like a lot of money for a 7 year old car that cost £11500 new and isn't absolutely perfect.

Thanks for replies. Might put it up and see what happens and do mot when it becomes due. . 5k is similar to those on autotrader. Negotiable of course. Apart from the bumper issue it's very good.

Mines on a 54 plate, A1 condition and only 37,000 miles, serviced every 10k oil change every 6k and I want £4500 for it. Is this too low then? :S
