Well, have settled with the insurance company. They initially tried to offer me a sum reflecting over 19% depreciation after 6 months and 10,000 miles!! Told 'em no way, gave some examples of 2nd hand Yetis for sale online with similar mileage and age with depreciation around 9% to 12%. They came back with 11% which is way closer to what I expected.

Once I clear the finance on my Yeti there'll be a decent bit of change to put towards new one. So I'll be reordering another Yeti which won't be with me till Feb 2012 at the earliest :'( In the meantime my dealer is seeing if they can provide a car for me. Not too sure the cost implications of this yet but we'll see.

Colour, model and spec will be the same - with maybe one or two extra extras to ease the pain of the whole process! :) Considered the 4x4 170bhp but its an extra €5.5k over the 110bhp 2.0Tdi.

I was so happy with the Yeti I can't think of going for anything else. Had hoped to keep it as long as the Polo before (15 years) but it wasn't to be. So the waiting game will begin once again in the near future...watch this space for Yeti '12 !

Well the order for the new Yeti went in yesterday. Hopefully should get the new car in March - current delivery time is 10 weeks or so. Went for exactly the same model and spec as before but with 2 added extras - electric drivers seat (and mirrors) and heated windscreen.

So the waiting game begins all over again!! Watch this space...

Got confirmation that the new Yeti will be built in week 5 (hopefully!) and I should have it 3 to 4 weeks later. Should be a nice pressie just in time for Paddy's Day so!

Of course, we all know that build dates move like marbles on a speaker but fingers crossed anyways!

Woo hoo - two snowy feet have landed on these green shores!! Got confirmation that my Yeti (ver. 2) had landed in Dublin aboard the African Highway on the 13th. It'll be a few days wait until it arrives at the dealership and PDI etc. is done...but should be getting the phonecall soon! :)

Now, where's that SD card of music from the first one......

Should be dropping into the dealers to pick it up on Thursday. Time enough to get the PDI etc done. Towbar is on the cards as well - but probably after payday!

Very nice, did you get the free Amunsden aswell?

Unfortunately, no. When I put in the order just before Christmas, Skoda had reverted back to the Bolero as standard as new Bolero stock had supposedly come in. They were still quite happy to keep the promotion going on the website and on radio. Dealer told me he was getting quite a few complaints when customers to be were informed that is was a 'while stocks last' (or 'until we have more Boleros') type of situation.

Have a Garmin Zumo for the motorbike which works fine in the car too - so won't be stuck without sat nav if needed.

New toys over the old one are leccy drivers seat and heated windscreen. Otherwise this one's the same as the last one...colour and all...

My dealer told me that in the first week of November when I ordered mine. At that stage he said there would only be a few weeks of the Amunsden being available. Never mind those ordering the Ambition got the rough end of that deal as they reverted back to the "Swing" radio. The electric seat and heated windscreen are good options. I'd be interested to see if any items are missing from the spec on this model over the last one.

Bolero radio is a decent bit of kit - especially with the speaker upgrade  ! So I'm happy enough with having it again. Gonna have a good look over the car to see if the standard spec has changed since the one I bought last May. Wouldn't be very impressed to see the standard level of spec going backwards - that's not how to sell cars!

It now seems to be the practice to launch a model with loads of kit on it and then slowly downgrade the model in terms of kit just to get the customer to spend more money by ordering the once standard bits as options. The Experience model used to come with front and rear parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming internal rear view mirror etc as standard. The Ambition lost cruise control, Belero, rain sensing wipers since its launch. VW have followed the principle of offering basic spec and getting you to upspec on extras for years. KIA launched the new Sortage with extra kit as a special intoduction model just to get a buy in to the market so it seems to be the way the market is going. Having said that at least ESP is standard on the Yeti over here, it appears to be an option on some models in the UK.

Appearances can be misleading...

Is it not an extra cost option on the lower spec models?

Well, she's here! Picked her up earlier today. Weird buying a new car and knowing pretty much everything about it already. Fairly sure I've done more miles in a Yeti than the chap in the dealership has!

Rubber boot protector and mud flaps all round thrown in which is nice. 1/2 tank of juice on board too so can't complain. When I get home have to find all the bits n bobs I had in the last one and pop them in. First thing will be the SD card though - then I have a few tunes to work by!

In the 4 months since my last Yeti passed on I'd forgotten just how nice they are to drive. Have to say, really looking forward to the spin home now...

Just stay well away from ANY water this time! Enjoy!!! Don't bother posting any more pics. :giggle: We still remember what the last one looked like. hehehe

Looks like you not only get better options in Ireland but your dealers are kinder too. :giggle:

Enjoy.

Water? Are you mad? This will be a 'dry miles only' car! :giggle: Little bit of drizzle this morning so thought it best to cycle into work!
