Myth or fact - Skoda engines no longer "detuned"

Featured Replies

From what I know the Golf GTI and the Octy vRS share an engine.

In the past, with the TFSI engine it was 200bhp in the Octy and I believe 215bhp in the Golf.

In essence, the Octy engine is detuned.

Now that things have moved over to the new FSI? engine, the Golf and Octy still share the same engine.

The Octy is advertised as 200bhp, however I've heard "rumour" that they are actually leaving the factory at 211bhp, the same as the Golf.

Is this complete and utter rubbish or is there something in this rumour I've heard?

When I went out to look for a new car I drove same engine models on VW, Skoda and Seat.

Seat was the one that had " less " power compared to both. Skoda in 2nd and VW at first.

Never tried on the Audi, if it´s like the earlier models Audi still has some power above all.

Example, friend had 1999 Audi A3 110hp and 2001 Seat Leon 110hp, the A3 was quicker in any state and also consumed less.

This is only my experience and knowledge.

previously on the TFSI both the golf and octavia both ran the 197hp K03 TFSI engine. with the TSI engine, the Golf ran 207hp, and the vRS 197hp.

YOu getting confused with ps. 200ps = 197hp 210ps =207hp

id imagine that its rumour thats been fed from guys that have had their car on a rolling road and its read above normal. this happens alot as there are so many variables that can make a car over read on a rolling road. Ive seen many TSI's and TFSI's run exactly stock figures. normally on dyno dynamic rollers.

^ what he said

Just take it to Ben@Shark - it will soon put the Golf to shame emoticon-0148-yes.gif
