DPF Removal - Performance?

Featured Replies

I know that with getting the DPF removed there is a remap which boosts performance (I already have that). But does removing the DPF itself effect performance?

Cheers guys :)

Speak to Ben @ shark performance

Yeah, he is the one I'm getting it done with. Good guy & had fantastic service from him before. This was just out of curiosity & I've spent more then enough tim eon the phone to him over various DPF related issues! :p

There will be an increase in performance as you have removed a restriction in the exhaust. How much is anyone's guess, I wouldn't expect it to be earth shattering, it will probably only be noticeable as a slightly faster pickup.

Seeing as someone has to go in to the ECU to map out the DPF though, you may as well have a Stage 1 map at the same time!

A place I know of (not Shark) will charge the same - his reasoning is he has the same amount of work to do to map out just a DPF or do a Stage 1 with the DPF mapped out.

I had the stage one doing back in January, but didn't bother getting the DPf removed. Car decided to light up the dash like a Christmas tree over a failed DPF Sensor & possible failure of DPF itself, rang Ben at Shark performance (when I had the work done originally) and his policy is that as I have paid for the stage one remap all I need to pay for now is the DPf removal! Good guy & can't fault his service at all! :)

I had the DPF removed and remap done with Ben at Shark last Wednesday, and I still can't get over how much better the car is now. It was well worth it.

I agree.

As I said, it wasn't Ben, and he will charge about £250 for Stage 1 or £250 just to go in to the ECU and map out the DPF. Someone else will have to remove the DPF, probably about another £100 for the 'letterbox' stylee DPF cut and shut removal.

You can't fault Ben!

Taking out the dpf will free up about 10bhp before the delete map if installed.
