ASR light on

Featured Replies

Hi,

This morning when I set off for work the ASR light came on with the ignition as usual, but didn't go off again. I tried pressing the ASR button but it made no difference.

After driving down the road a little, I pulled up and turned the ignition off and back on again - the light went out as it should and didn't come back on again all the way to work.

Yesterday I gave the car a bit of a detail, and had to move the car on my driveway a couple of times. To move it such a short distance, and as my driveway is flat, I always just take the handbrake off and push it.

It's never mattered before, but could pushing the car upset the ABS/ASR wheel sensors? Or is this an indication of something on its way out?

Oh, and the battery hasn't been disconnected - I know this can cause the ASR light to come on until you drive around a bit for the sensors to calibrate.

Fault code scan may reveal a dodgy ABS wheel speed sensor. Probably be logged as a pending fault so generic scanner may bot pick it up, but VAGCOM will.
