Weitec Rear Shocks Replacement

Featured Replies

Both my rear shocks are leaking and they seem to be out of warranty by the previous owner. Where/how can I obtain 2 new shocks?

I phoned Weitec and they said contact the place where I got them from (Jabba) but Jabba said you can't buy them individually and as they're out of warranty (and that I'm not the original owner) there's nothing that they can do?

Yeah yeah, you're just after an excuse to get an air ride system ;)

Try G-Werks, registered dealer for KW/Weitec/AP. Speak to Rob or Darren the boss.

I have to say Jabba have been very poor in my experience with warranty claims. I had a failed 'lifetime' warranty Koni shock absorber that frankly they just couldn't be ****ed to progress for me, so they won't be getting any more of my money.

I know a man that can, he has his own business called ote performance

He puts new seals in and re gasses the shocks.

Around £60 per strut.

Let me know if you want to speak him

or kw if you fancy an upgrade

£178 for the KW's and £157 for the Weitec's. More than I expected... Will I even notice the difference between them? It's quite a bit more than I expected to be honest. :( Is that the cheapest place I'll find? I swear you can get the complete kit for £400-450?

Might be worth giving Damian at DPM Performance a shout, at least he would be bothered to ask the question to Weitec, helpful bloke I've found.

you could always put some PI badbhoyz on if you'd rather

PI

doubt you'd even notice much diff on the rear anyways

The rear shocks are available alone if you needed to buy them, just give us a shout.

Damian @ DPM Performance

I had the same problem when i got my kit, i had to buy a shock - change it - send it back - get a refund!

think it was something stoopid like £195, but the D man sorted it all for me

Jase I've just been told that they're out of the springs/shocks kit and not the coilover kit. Is that right? Are they different on the rear then? Apparently the coilover rear shocks are £22 more expensive. Can you find them on that site?

Give Damian a call dude!

So much easyer!

I spoke to him via PM and he's the one that said the shocks Jase linked me to aren't coilover shocks. I got quoted £215 for the pair not including delivery which seems really expensive considering the kit is £400 or so? I'm sure it's a good price as Damian always is but it's still a lot more expensive than I expected. Awaiting to hear back from Jase...

I had to deposit about £195 for 1! just to get mine sorted in warranty.

if you cant justify repairing then just replace man!

unless coilover shocks are shortened even more compared to the already shortened shortened shocks if that makes any sense...

rear shocks and springs are seperate...

i just changed my lupo rear shocks from the coilover shock to one out of a fixed suspension kit and they were identical...

also the parts for the rear coilover kit for the fabia are just shortened shocks and sepearate springs with an adjuster cup

the shocks from the standard fixed lowering kit should work no problem i would say as its not even a 'coilover' on the rear

So would you go with the link you got (even though Damian says it's not from the coilover kit) or pay £22 extra per shock to Damian for the shocks out of the coilover kit? I don't wanna order them and find out they're shorter but I also don't wanna pay £44 more if they're the same... Grrr?

i'd just buy the ones in the link, they will be shorter than the oem shockers anyways!!

you could even use standard shockers to be honest, as its the spring that gives you the lowering...

only difference is the spring on the coilover is really short and you get an adjuster and cup to choose which height you want. the rear is essentially only an adjustable spring with uprated damper

front is a true coilover assembly

Theirs more to it than simply a shorter shaft. Are you not bothered on how well the damper controls the spring? Yes both the dampers out of the spring/damper kit and the coilover kit might look the same however the damping and internal components can be completely different.

Then again they might not.

I'll be honest and admit I've not been following your build thread in great detail but if you splashing out on modding it why skimp on maintaining it?

I'm not skimping on maintaining it but obviously I don't want to spend £44 extra if they're the same shock...

all im saying is the weitec from the fixed lowering kit will fit, and its uprated anyways...

its your call, i'd probably go for it

I did question the difference a while back but never got an answer :( My reason was to see if their was a performance difference between the coilover kit and spring/damper kit.
