Gaga Locking problem

Featured Replies

I have a 53 reg Faba1.4 16v, and two keys that have two buttons.

Recently the remote locking has gone gagaemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif, Sometimes when I am by the driver's door and try to unlock nothing happens. I go to the nearside , use the remote and the front passenger door opens, and maybe the rear one as well. On myleaving the car the remote closes the driver's door, but only some of the others at random. .

Just in case it is my regualar key, I have tried the very occasionally used spare with same results.

Can anyone help with a reason for the fault, and how I can cure it? Please.

Make sure both remote batteries are up to the job. If you still get problems, a code scan might throw out a code or two. Likely to be comfort control module problem.

Hi! :) Am I amiss in thinking that even the rarely used remote's battery might be not up to it then?

If your suspicions are correct, how much for the part and how long labour, or can it be a DIY for a not very deft oldies?

Presumably an error code will show up, so best for amin dealer or an indie to deal with this if garage has to be involved?

Worth trying a new CR2032 battery first as it's only a couple of quid. Other work means a load of trim and doorcards have to come off, so garage job if your not up to speed on the location of the various control modules. Check the VAGCOM user location list to see if anyone near you can scan the car for fault codes.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but the title describes my problem ferpectly.

Situation - the car is a non-convenience Fabia I Tdi, 03 plate. The keyfob remote locking has always worked perfectly, and still does.

The car was unlocked (all doors), all doors closed, engine off when a passenger, presumably fearing for their life, pushed the locking button down on the nearside passenger door. now when a press the "lock" button (with the key on) on the driver's arm rest, all the doors lock and then the passenger nearside door unlocks itself again. Pressing "unlock" correctly unlocks all doors, and they stay that way, and pulling the door release(s) also correctly unlocks all the doors. The remote locking still does everything it should, correctly.

I have tried (repeatedly) repeating the button down trick, I have removed and replaced the CL and CL control fuses, etc. and nothing will convince the door to stay locked when "lock" is pressed. The self-unlocking trick is accompanied by a 'tick' from the dashboard area, so I am guessing that the CL control unit has got confused. Any suggestions as to how to re-educate it that "locked" means all the doors?

Thanks in advance ...

Thanks. I disconnected it for about an hour (I forgot...) and it still does it. Then again I didn't have to reset anything else either. I've ordered a VAGCOM cable, as this is a) long overdue and B) probably for the best. Thanks for your help though.

I wonder......you think that the passenger pushed the top pin down to activate the locking mech???? Bit drastic....might FUBAR it but ever thought of holding it up when you press the remote to do the opposite...to reset it????? :S

I've tried (complete list):

Locking it while holding the button up

Unlocking it while holding the button down

Pushing the button down while the car is unlocked and then locking it

Opening the door first and then doing the above

All of the above with the ignition on

All of the above with the child lock engaged (it normally isn't)

Trying to re-create the fault on the offside passenger door (tried twice and couldn't)

Pulling the CL control and CL motor fuses, waiting, and then putting them back in

Disconnecting the battery for an hour.

However, what's got me is that there is a big mass clunk as everything else locks, followed by the one solitary door unlocking again; it's not that one door is doing the opposite of the others. It does exactly the same if you sit in the car and push one of the front door knobs down too:- all four doors lock, then the NSP door unlocks again.

I was about to resort to thrashing it mightily with a tree branch (a la J. Cleese) when I discovered that VAGCOM bits no longer cost an arm and a kidney.

Was about to suggest that as a final solution to a typical Skoda REG (random electrical gremlim)
