it should, usual cause of failure is the door microswitch not working.

damm did wonder if it should,

where would i find the microswitch?

the dash shows up when the door is opened so there is a connection there somewhere

it's easier to change the whole door lock mech. They are about £100 new. I think Bowders did a how to on changing just the micro processor.
