Checking a vehicles MOT history

Featured Replies

Have got the Lexus booked in for it's MOT tomorrow and got the certificate out ready for the morning when i noticed that last year it had an advisory/advisories. I'd not noticed it before and started thinking the worst about what it could have been and so did a quick search online to see if you can find out what a vehicles advisories were and hey presto you can. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

MOT history

The link takes you to the DirectGov site which then links you through to the MOT history check. You just need the reg number and the MOT test number off the last MOT certificate and it will then bring up all the info for every MOT the vehicle has ever had including any advisories and also any failures etc...

Thought it may be of some use to people when buying a used car.

Oh and the advisories the car got last year???

A broken interior door handle on the drivers door which i have a receipt for repair that came with the car..... And a worn tyre which had also been replaced by the time i bought the car. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

We find it handy for when we get cars back for retest without any paperwork, we get the test number from our daily log and can then look up the result.

That site was posted on here a while ago. Its really good for checking up on your cars MOT history. I've been looking round at cars recently, and im amazed how many second hand car dealers have print outs from that site.

I checked this out when I first bought my car. Seems that the previous owner + 1 had been running it around for 6 months without an MoT!
