VAG COM Readers

Featured Replies

After replacing the battery on my Touran last week several function showed fault codes. To correct these, I drove the car for a couple of miles reaching about 40mph and almost everything corrected itself. A warning light remained, however, for the airbag system and the boot locking system repeatedly unlocked itself. My son used his VAG COM reader to reset the airbag warning light but the boot lock remains a problem. I know that there are various versions of the VAG COM reader and would like to purchase the correct one for my Yeti (when it eventually arrives). Does anyone know which version is the most up to date and will function with the Yeti?

The best place to ask this is in the VAG COM section of the forum, or email Ross Tech direct.

You need a cable that is CAN-compatible. If you don't have any older VAG cars in the surroundings then the Micro-CAN is sufficient, but if you get a HEX+CAN then you can access any car with an OBD-port. You can also read standard OBDII error codes from any car with these.

My version of VCDS is 10.6 which will work fine on a Yeti. However, there are rumours of a version 11 VCDS now, but I have not found out if I need to get this version on my laptop I use for VCDS.

Many thanks for the information. My local VW dealer (I don't know about Skoda) wants £39 just to plug the code reader in and reset a code. It certainly looks worthwhile having the kit and taking the DIY route.

Pretty much what the others have said, HEX+CAN interface is the most versatile.

The latest (stable) software is still 10.6.3, however there is also a 11.2.0 Beta version as well.

You need not worry about the version number of the software. When you buy an original cable from Ross-Tech you can always download the latest software (stable as well as beta) for free. The idea is that the software needs the original cable to work so it's uselsess on it's own or with replicas.
