Hi

The best way to run cables to the boot, is down the chassis leg, or follow brake pipes, and cable tie to the pipes, drop down from the battery and find a grommet in the boot to bring up the cable.

make sure the cable is thick enough as you will get volts drop and will draw a lot of amps, so make sure you put the correct size fuse

as close to the battery as possible.

and as for a earth, there should be a good earth point in the boot to connect to.

+1  ; reduced chances of interference

Never heard of this but a v good idea! Saves taking apart the inside of the car...

yup would only do it this way far easier than going through the scuttle and hiding a nice thick cable in the interior under carpet etc

I have my live running through the inside of the car underneath the scuttle panels, via good grommet behind glove box. Was not difficult and have no interference. As for earthing point, rear seat belt anchor points are good

Done the same, except earthed it somewhere below the rear light cluster on passenger side.

i do too, but its easier underneath, its too easy to not seal the scuttle area when running a cable through if you chose the wrong grommit to use. The ones i have seen several members use are the ones that are horizontal in the scuttle area floor, needless to say, they leak from there! Better to chose as high up grommit as possible

I just done mine yesterday the same way Rob has , and it took about half an hour ,including removing trim , hardest part it getting it through the grommet where exsiting wires are

It never occurred to me to go outside the car :)

Saves a huge amount of space too.

By the time you've got 3x thick RCA, 8x thick speaker cable, plus a whole bunch of other wiring, can get difficult to squeeze everything in.

Squeezing cables tightly together then vastly increases the chances of interference, particularly if one of those cables is the power lead

it makes perfect sense to be honest. If I ever get round to installing a sub I will do it this way.
