The infamous Warrington yellow VRS for sale

Does that make what he is saying wrong then? :S

Matt

The first bits correct, in 99% of circumstances, a car that makes torque lower down will make higher values (Think about the long stroke of a diesel engine, and it's advantages, the fuel ignition window etc).

However the second bit doesn't make sense at all!

Ah I see. TBH, it sounds like between how the car is mapped, and how accurate the rollers are there can be huge differences. I prefer to have a car that drives nice, and feels quick with useable power. Others rather just "chase figures" which as I said, kinda just gives bragging rights. Each to their own I guess lol

I should explain it a bit more, too be fair.

With a faster spooling, turbo (GT17), It can be mapped to take full advantage of the Diesels low rev-ability (I know it's not a real word!). A smaller turbo that's spooled up faster can compress more air quicker, thus nice high torque @ low revs. Obviously, higher into the rev range, that little turbo's running out of puff, and thus you'll see the torque curve plummet.

Obviously, with a bigger turbo (GTB2260VK), it's still spooling up @ the optimum injection stroke window down at the low revs, coupled with a gearbox saving map, the torque spike can be removed, and flatttened. Due to these types of turbos physical properties, it doesn't run out of puff as quick, thus can carry the torque through a better range.

Horsepowers a function of revs and torque (Dunno the exact equation, but I know HP = Torque @5252rpm.) That's why you can have engines like a K20C running 250bhp nasp even though there's little torque. It makes it's power through more RPM.

basically peak torque figures mean jack

its all about how long you can hold it

peak torque should be near as damn it 4k which is awesome

3,800-3,850 RPM? :wonder:

Close enough

Bigger turbo will bring it up

You picked the wrong turbo ;)

You picked the wrong car :D

its only worth what sumones willing to pay...its prob not dear considering anyone wanting a vrs with them mods already done...

mine stands me over 20k...whats it worth now?

what sumones willing to pay....

It's not that I'm questioning it but I'm running the same spec with 120ft/lb less torque, it's more me questioning the rollers (the ones I used included) as other 240bhp TDI's made around the same torque on the rollers I used but you heard of people with less power making over 100ft/lb more and I'd love to know why, if it's the rollers being optimistic (or the ones I used under reading), the car spiking to figure hunt or simply that it's better mapping and that it would eat me down the strip...

It's not that I'm doubting him at all, it's just I'm running the same spec so if them figures are possible and its just as nice to drive as mine then I want it too basically. But we will never know unless the owner of one of these cars agrees to come to the same rollers or even just go for a spirited drive together to see how they compare in the real world etc...

Well why not get over to Awesome and put it on their rollers?

then all the arguments will be laid to rest

You know what , this guy is a great guy , he is lovely

he bought a car and modded it to how HE wanted

Does not mean he is wrong because a few of you dont like it , or do not agree

There are some small minded people out there that are keyboard warriers

I am going to babble on , because you know what , I had many many years of being happy in the modding world , you know what , if I read this thread again , I will be damn happy I am out of it

Grow up you all , stop your bitching and be impressed with the car for what it is....a STUNNING looking car , that goes well

Ste did drive it fast , and am sure he did manage to beat a few faster cars

But then , this could be down to alot of things

Maybe the driver of the other car did not know the roads , maybe he had a broken foot , maybe he had a pint in his hand......

We will not know

The driver can kill a lap time because of his driver skills

The only way to prove it is by putting your money where your mouth is , and get to Awesome and get on the rolling road

God I used to really love you guys , but this is ripping to shreds a nice car and a nice guy

If you want it , buy it , if not shut up

Rant over

Sarah

So what your saying is this car has been used in a fair few traffic light grand prix's

/\ great advert

This is in the car park at awesome , was looking at it on fri. while waiting

Get off your high horse. Seriously.

If you can't handle the facts, maybe the modifying world is not for you?

It is a stunning looking car, no doubt about it! No one has disagreed!

No one has ripped him to shreds either, or the car! It's the unlikely figures............

I really don't get the rest of your post.......He drove it fast.....OK? No one's doubting that, but so does little Johhny in his 1.2 Corsa in McDonalds and/or Lewis Hamilton in an F1 Car?

Oh, and there's already talks of getting a Rolling road day for everyone to attend..........(I'll even happily organize it, central England........?)

(For the record, I'm not a keyboard warrior, my own Skoda's been featured in the same magazine as this one, and I'll happily tell my opinions/back them up with facts in reali life. )

No , I think you will find that was mentioned before , I have only seen the vehicle in Awesome , but had many many chats with Ste while his car was in

Nice guy , and there has been a few mentions on this thread

Facts , I know alot of them

I have worked in the modding game for a long time

I have seen people get slated for wanting a sun strip

I hate that , as everyone has their own taste

I like some bits that people have fitted , and I hate things that people have fitted , but never slated them for it , as heyt they have spent their hard earned money on it , and if they are happy , then that is great

well go to the rolling road day , I have been to hundreds , yes yes , then you listen to all the excuses.....

Opinions , are that opinions , do not need facts

As for the slating , well I have read a few on this thread....the bumper bein g one

there was an old saying , if you have nothing nice to say , say nothing at all

I find it quite funny how some people are getting so wound up over a stupid torque figure !

Does it really matter ?

No , I agree

It is a stunning car

To be fair , the guy is lovely , he does not come on here because he does not want people to tell him how they would do it

Oh well

Nice car and I am sure someone will have fun with it , like he has

Thank you R1chard

I find it quite funny how some people are getting so wound up over a stupid torque figure !

Quite simply... yes.

Too many traffic light grand-prix with that torque and he'll speed up the Earth, causing us to all age more quickly. ;)

Basically, its because Steve's was the faster car in redline

What a load of rubbish!

That relies entirely on him always racing in the same direction! What if he raced going home too?

sorry but i think it looks poo!! silly mirrors and wheels, somethings are just best lefted alone!! :giggle:
