OK.

Scenario:

Guy looking at car to buy.

"It's got X power, wicked!"

Buys car.

Realizes it's not that fast/doesn't make that power on rollers.

Realizes all may not be well.

Doesn't buy car, doesn't get ****ed.

Guy is ****ed.

As a moral citizen, which scenario do you believe we should assist in? Telling the truth?

yes absolutely except no one knows whether it made that power or not? there is so much variation in rolling roads! its possible you buy any car thats been dynoed at some point and by the time the second owner dyno's it its dropped a bit.....and surely hed drive it before handing over any cash to see if he was satified with the performance, when i sold my starlet i advertised it at the power it made on the dyno when it was mapped, the guy who bought it was upgrading from a 106gti he dint care about a few bhp or proof it was what i said it was! all he knew was it was mental and he loved it! surely it doesnt matter if it doesnt quite make now what it once did or whatever...its a nice car all the same

I was at Awesome when it made that power on the rollers. Get over the fact yours pulled weaker figures!!

Cars that make torque lower down the rev range, make bigger peak figures. :) Mine's "only" 380 lb/ft but because it makes it 3500rpm peak, its actually more (as torque is a function of RPM) than 440lb/ft at 2000rpm.

The least they could do is quote torque @ RPM.

I'd be very surprised if it peaked much before 2500RPM though, especially on a power run on the rollers. Normally, revs rise more quickly on the rollers than on the road. This can lead to boost and fueling chasing/lagging the game through the rev range.

I'm sure that we've been here before when debating Warwick Hunt's power :dull:

LOL at the hate this car receives on this forum  The dude spends a truck load of cash with Awesome, gets a rather decent RR printout, and yet he's lying?!?! :o

This adds to my argument that we need to arrange a Brisky RR or a Brunters shootout event for as many hybrid owners as possible to attend. Then we'll see the results under the same conditions....

Aside from the obvious discussion about whether its worth the money and just how fast it really is, I saw this car in the flesh at Awesome last weekend and it looks absolutely fantastic, so much better than those pictures.

In fact I couldn't look at it for too long, kinda like looking at somebody's gorgeous body that you know you'll never get close to!

If who ever is interested in it takes it for a test drive and is happy with the power, and how it's put on the road.. Then figures are just figures anyway :)

Marc

Bingo!

Figures are for pub talk, it's the bum dyno that really matters :giggle:

Does this car get so much (negative) attention cos the owner isn't an active member on here and can't argue his own case??

Is it more fun to poke fun/accusations at stuff when a come back is very unlikely?

Figures of more modified cars always seem to be questioned here rather than congratulated, and arguements are only dropped after the owner has spent months proving their case.

Can we all just get over it. Regardless of the figures it actually produces it's a modified Fabia which can only be a good thing :)

Oh and for what it's worth i reckon aything with a hybrid turbo is sh*te; and that Mongrel thing is the worst of the lot!

If all of you could all remove all modifications and post the parts to me to avoid further embarassment I think it would be the best result for everyone B)

I really need one of these Awesome remaps, they truly are awesome!

For the record, I like the car, I just don't like the claims "Fastest in UK", or the ridiculous power figures.

I'll happily attend any group rolling road, or RWYB day.

It really annoys me, when tuners make figures look different.

Have you ever noticed how no one's ever questioned Jase's figures? Doesn't that occur to anyone? It's because his are realistic! This simply isn't!

But isnt lukes fabia (x4osx) not running the same power and setup? Which ran on amd rollers with all the other fabia`s?

Matt

i dont care what power this is running

last time i seen it, he was giving it the beans against a impreza turbo. this thing wasnt shy and kept the impreza honest. figures dont really interest me, it has been said already figures are for pub talk. as for the car it always seems to get slated for some reason on here.

maybe it is worth 7k may not but what you can guarantee is that with the amount of reicepts and the reputation of awesome i dont think you will find another one that has been maintained aswell as this one.

There's a few Fabias with MK2/FMIC/Full zorsts/Remaps...... standard mods (including my own).

All produce around the same powerish........

But this one's running nearly 100lbs extra on top.......It's just not plausible......

It's not that I'm questioning it but I'm running the same spec with 120ft/lb less torque, it's more me questioning the rollers (the ones I used included) as other 240bhp TDI's made around the same torque on the rollers I used but you heard of people with less power making over 100ft/lb more and I'd love to know why, if it's the rollers being optimistic (or the ones I used under reading), the car spiking to figure hunt or simply that it's better mapping and that it would eat me down the strip...

It's not that I'm doubting him at all, it's just I'm running the same spec so if them figures are possible and its just as nice to drive as mine then I want it too basically. But we will never know unless the owner of one of these cars agrees to come to the same rollers or even just go for a spirited drive together to see how they compare in the real world etc...

i have a printout from my old golf gt tdi running 267bhp and 318lb-ft torque

rr's are a lot of ****....!

That was the reason I asked on another thread about how much torque this car is making compared to the clutch it's got.

Mine is being finished off next week and if 440 ft/lb is realistic then I want some of that! :D

But I've been told it's not sensible to go much above 400 ft/lb even on an SMF if you want reliabliity. Which is fine, but it's best ask and find out than wonder if you should have asked for more power. ;)

Has jason and others not explained this a few times now.

I rather have a smoother car, better to drive, more useable etc etc than big pub talk personally. All well and good sounding like billy big balls but in real terms driving, its pretty pointless. (all IMO of course)

Matt

Torque is not a function of RPM.

Horspower is.

Does that make what he is saying wrong then? :S
