Recent trip down to Brighton to see my friend, this was the journey down to Brighton from Bradford (270 miles)

I managed to get from Bradford - Haywards Heath - Brighton - Chesterfield on ONE tank (480 miles)

Not bad for a 1.8T.

My best was Swindon to nurburg on one tank 498miles!!

hmmm, I'm lucky to see a smidge over 300 miles but can't say I do a lot of motorway driving :(

I take the TDI if I want fuel ecomonmy lol, saying that I managed 42.3MPG in mine yesterday on a 40 mile run in traffic..

they really are not bad on fuel if driven sensibly and mine is actually better on fuel than the 2.0 octy I had before and the missus's old 1.6 octy too.

best i can get is 33 on the way to work... worst is below 20

Respect to that  best iv managed is 32 :giggle:

I bet that was driving like miss daisy!

I once had 40mpg from a 3.2v6 vectra over 400 miles

You obviously need to try harder and aim for below 15 :D

Didnt say how far below 20 ;):giggle:

managed 44.2 on a trip from manchester to minehead last summer. mind i was doing between 50-60 mph throughout the 5 hour journey.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still not bad that.

My early morning commute to work - 61 miles in 1hr 9minutes. I am cheating by driving a diesel though....

I'm surprised you got that much with those wheels !!

managed to get an average of 39.9mpg out of my old M3 a few years ago on a run back from london.

drove a mates fabia vrs last week back from newport.

he's averaged 48.2mpg on the way down

i averaged 50.8mpg and i forgot it was a 6 speed lol

it's all about technique, we was on and off the throttle like a kangeroo to the point i felt sick.

I have a friend like that. I now refuse to be a passenger in his car because each time I do I feel sick and sorry for the car! He thinks I'm a bad driver because I like to 'make progress' when the conditions allow, but am averaging over 35mpg per tank at the moment, so can't be too much of a speed freak.

My brother wont get into the car with me anymore... unless he wants a lift somehwere... something about hard accel... hard brakeing and tying to go sideways that makes him feel sick.

I told him to man up

Driving into work following traffic I normally get 38 - 40mpg. Like it's been said it's all down to technique. I've been on a few SAFED (safe and fuel efficient driving) as well as ROSPA advanced driving courses so I know how to save my fuel. Stick me in a hire car or works car and its a different story.

On the way back from UNIT18 after having my suspension done I averaged low 20's though :giggle:

I see a couple of GalaMast (civil engineers) vans most mornings who race along overtaking each other. One even managed to go over the brow of a hill in the wrong lane on Monday morning. This morning one pulled out to overtake only to find an oncoming car was in his way (he might have spotted it had he not been about 2 yards off the back of the van infront).

Given their method of driving it is obvious they are not paying for the fuel themselves.... I want their jobs :D

You didn't mention it took you a week to drive there ;)

Did the Advanced Driver Training at work for testing prototype vehicles KRAFT i think it was police certified etc, Jaguars Landrovers etc... and it made me worse :p

Mine is IHI power'd and is awesome on fuel, i brought it back from Sheffield over to Stockport and saw 50mpg.

Round town it normally averages about 35mpg, never seen less than 100 to £20 of vpower even on a death run.

got over 42mpg on my way home tonight

Ive never thought the vrs was bad on fuel! im on my second one now, had the first one for 3 years always found it good on fuel, let me tell you it's hell of alot better on fuel then a fto v6 mivec. :o

I can't get mine to go over 31 mpg, even driving like miss daisy. If I drive like I want to, I get 26 mpg.. :dull:

That's the problem with wearing size 14 boots lol

Did see 45 on the way to plymouth though.

My problem is the commute to work. I spend moretime sat in traffic than moving and quite often see less than 20mpg on my 8 mile run to work, as Luke has well seen :(

Although last year's trip to the ring, few laps and "spirited" drive back through France saw a long weekend averageof 34mpg. Not bad considering
