9.5hrs cleaning excessive? - photos added

Featured Replies

Today I started at 0915hrs and we finally finished 1845hrs. Basically a mate (Nobbafet) over on the octavia forum has a spanking motor and is an uber geek when its comes to making his family wagon go like the clappers and looking the nuts. He has all the kit and takes mega good care of it. He occasionally talks me into a clay bar session. Taking it a step further he had some excellent tar remover so it was a quick wipe round with that, then clay bar, resin polish then liquid gloss on top. After buffing it within an inch of its life the black rat was done. Pictures to follow tomorrow. I did seal a pair of alloys for another car twice but still how long do the rest of you take when clay barring or doing a mega clean?

Longest clean I've ever undertaken took 2 of us two days.. :o

Inside & out, and was of epic proportions. I'm not that pedantic anymore

Took me 2 days of cleaning to get mine ready for Ultimate Dubs :) Not sure if i should be proud of that though.......

I've taken waaay longer than that, but then I do have quite a bad case of the 'detailing' bug :o

Spent 4 days doing mine when it was in Ultimate Dubs 3 years ago, then when I arrived at the show spent about another 4 hours cleaning it from its 300 mile journey. Think it was the cleanest its ever been  Didn't look too bad don't you think?

Getting it ready for Combe are we, Olly? ;)

The longest I have spent is probably 2 days, roughly 10 to 12 hours in total. One day spent prep, washing, claying and doing other natty bits such as interior, wheels, etc. Next day, wash & dry again, machine polish few times, wax. Not sure I have the willpower to do the same again but the mongrel will probably get a treatment when it gets proper warm again - around late April perhaps.

spent 3 days cleaning the girlfriends mk3 MR2 roadster

it'll only get dirty again  I spent about an hour cleaning mine on Tuesday  I used to spend much longer on my motorbikes, used to spend more time cleaning them than I did riding them.

I'd like to get mine detailed but it seems too expensive :'(

Trying to get mine sorted for ultimate dubs i spent hours on it. From about 7.30am on friday till about 9pm with a few breaks to get tyres fitted n stuff. Then cleaned it again sat for a few hours. Then about 30 mins at UD in the morning. I didnt touch the inside, its still a 5hit tip inside haha.

So no.. Its normal :-P

Two days for Ultimate Dubs for me when I went in the Ibiza - was indoors so had to look the nuts lol

two days for a proper detail, wel three if your counting removing wheels etc. de-contamination, prep, 2 stage correction, seal wax it. love doing it lol

Jet washes are bad bad bad for the paint. Leave really bad swirls overtime. I spend about 4 hours today and that's plenty for me. I would love to take the wheels off and clean the arches but really can't be bothered lol.

On a 10 year old car its pretty irrelevant

Its a pressure jet wash not a drive through

I do it myself 3-4 times a week

The 9.5hrs didn't include the pre-wash the day before. Just waiting for Nobbafet to pull his finger out and e-mail some photos to post.
