Why are GTi seats lower than Vrs

Featured Replies

I used to have a MK V gti and I have to say I miss the seats compared to the gti. The gti seats sat lower than the vrs seats so you didn't feel like you where sitting on top of the car. So does anyone know why the seat is lower, is it the seat it's self or is the platform the seat sits on higher in the octavia?

Cheers

I also had a Mk5 GTI before the Octavia - agree the golf seats were nicer. I think its just the shape of the seat/ foam. I have the vrs seats as low as they'll go and i still find them too high.

They are so nice I fitted a set in the mongrel. Can't comment on the octavia equivalents though. The GTI seats can "feel" high when you have the handle cranked right up to lift them, but I keep mine relatively low. Might help reduce the centre of gravity for the car as a whole by a miniscule percentage.

How tall are you guys?

I'm a v.average 5'11" and with the vRS seats ratcheted right down feels way too low.

Maybe the Golf has a higher scuttle/shoulder which makes it feel lower?

I think the platform on the golf is set lower than the octavia, even the standard golf seat is lower than those in the octavia.

Ps I'm 6 ft 3"

Are they lower? Didn't strike me as being lower?

If they are you can transplant them easily enough. No mods required just bolt straight in. The raised bits in the floor the seat rails sit on in both cars is the same from memory.

I think the platform that the seat frame bolts onto is higher on the octavia. Just need to measure them against the ones on a mk v gti
