What about hydraulics rat look litterally as low as it will go!? I'm thinking widened arches so the wheels can sit right in them old school citroen style. Also I know people have turbo fitted the 1.6 how about giving the 1.3 some turbo love?!

Sleeper. Something that looks totally stock, but can destroy other cars off the line...

I seemed to have hit on something, mentioning the old ex Buick V8 lump. It is lightweight, and very tunable, and also fairly common. I have seen many a front drive motor modded to rwd, and powered by this pretty good unit, especially Ford Escort Mk3's, and even a few Fiesta Mk2's.

By the way with the sleeper idea, very good. In the mid 90s in Leeds there was a stock looking Lada Riva, that under the bonnet had a Ford Cosworth lump! Insane.

as it happens i do have a rover v8 engine here at home but the automatic borg-warner gearbox is blown (no surprises there then).. would have to find a decent rear axle from a range rover or something though

i reckon the lid off a chest freezer would make an awesome spoiler with a few bits of B&Q tat to bolt it on.. i'm thinking an MDF bodykit too

what i really really want is a 20v turbo engine, but they seem to go for silly money on ebay, although you can be lucky sometimes, there was one i was bidding on the other day which was all complete with the gearbox and ancilleries and it went for about £250 because the seller had listed it with a slightly mis-spelt title. i was gutted because my broadband dropped out so i couldn't bid at the end :wonder:

esnipe is your friend, Tom! Won many a large-value item for much less by doing it, and not had to suffer internet outage as well!

As for the car idea, I'm with James on the 4x4, but he mentioned elsewhere doing it with a Fabia, a la S2000, which would be spot on (with bodywork available too at a price)

Seen videos of a favorit with that same engine.. was pretty nice! seen pics of it in the favorit and the felicia as well. it was a snug fit but that would make a really good project and a hell of a car!
