Rust

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 04 plate vrs and whilst washing it today i noticed a couple of rust patches coming through the paint work......

One is above the offside rear light on the very edge where the light cluster meets the body shell and another just off the nearside rear arch where the bumper joins the body.

Not happy about it but i have heard that skoda offer a 10 year anti corrosion warranty?

Am i likely to get told politely to 'fook off' as the car has a full service history but not a full skoda history?

They aren't really in places where the shell is likely to get damaged with out other bits getting damaged too.......

Also the lacquer is bubbling on the spoiler!!!

Cheers

Daz

Doesn't it need a annual skoda "inspection" for this to be valid?

I have no idea to be honest......might ring the local dealer on monday as i'm pretty miffed :(

Will only be covered if it's due to rust through from inside of panel concerned. The actual paintwork warranty is 4 years but does not cover stone chips or rust due to scratches etc. Laquer on spoiler definitely will not be covered.

Yeah thought it would be something like that......i think its worth a try though as there in places where stone chips dont happen and in crevasses where scratches aren't likely.

How will i stand on the service history front?

AFAIK the service history is only needed for the underbody coating. It's impossible to check the rear of panels without removing door cards and wheel arch liners etc. Not something that even the most dedicated dealer would do.

CHRIST ON A BIKE MAN! dont say stuff like that! lol.

Nah, i had a mechanic friend with me who inspected it before i bought it an i'm a fabricator so i know when it comes to bodge jobs with steel and such materials.

I know this doesn't mean its not been involved in anything at all but its hpi clear......

They are just small blemishes but have to potential to get alot nastier :)
