Fitting a towbar...

Featured Replies

I am planning to fit a towbar to my 54 reg fabia estate, because I'm a bit of a DIYer I want to save some money and fit it myself. Has anyone fitted a towbar to their fabia?

Does anyone have any tips or pictures on removing rear bumper, installing the towbar and connecting the electrics etc?

Can anyone recommend a particular brand or style? I've heard of Witter and the swan neck and flange style. Also if anyone in Cornwall has removed theirs or is planning to remove theirs, please let me know as I will be able to put it to good use.

Any help is hugely appreciated - Many thanks!

Come on people you guys are the Skoda experts! :wonder: :D

Someone on here must have fitted or removed a towbar to or from a fabia...

Also, I have been looking on lots of different websites about whether or not I need a bypass relay and I'm getting differing results. Some state it's required for my vehicle, some say it's not. I think you only need it if you have multiplex/canbus/builb failure detction systems, does the fabia have this?

Mine is a 54 reg 1.2 Ambiente Estate.

My 02 has a towbar installed and will never use it. The person who wired in the electrics used scotchloks on the rear light wires :wall: lazy bar steward. Bit far from Cornwall though :)

I herd a few times that the fabia hasnt been load tested or something to tow. This may just be the vrs model or something but all I know it its illegal to tow with my vrs. Sorry for the possible bad news.

I think that only applies to the VRS, which would need an ugly chunk of rear bumper removed anyway.
