Just about to spend a silly amount on Snow Foam and Detailing Stuff - Opinions

Featured Replies

Hey all, we purchased a brand new Karcher pressure washer today, so I am going to join the snow foam brigade. I am also going to purchase a few other btis n bobs too for the car. Here is what I am looking at from cleanyourcar.co.uk:

-Sonus Cockpit Detailer

-Valet Pro - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner

-Dodo Juice - Red Tropical Mist

-Miracle Dryer drying towel

-Foam Lance (Karcher)

-Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II

-Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam

-Poor Boys Black Hole (I will be applying this by hand to get rid of swirls, etc, is it worth it?)

-Pump Dispenser (Gallon bottles)

-Foam Wax Applicator (for the PB BH)

Any opinions on the above? Are some of them a waste of time?

Cheers

Stu

All looks pretty good to me, however I'd go with PoorBoys NLS or 303. You'll need a bucket with a gritt guard and wash mitt, drying towl as well! Which wax are you using? Are you claying? I'd try VP Shampoo or something from Duragloss as the maxi Suds tends to be used as a foam.

Have fun!

Buckets and wash mitt I already have, I have a drying towel, but it is not brilliant, hence the addition to the list above.

Poorboys NLS as opposed to which product?

I am not currently not claying, probably needs it to be honest.

Wax is Megs NXT Gen.

Poor boys black hole is amazing!!!! I would get Endurance High Gloss Tyre Gel and Tyre Dressing Applicator Pad both

Meguiar's as well!

Is PBBH easy enough to apply by hand with decent results?

Also, is DDJ Red Mist really as good as everyone says?

Tempted to add a clay bar and some lube to that list too.

easy to use by hand ,very quick ues sparingly, I wouldnt bother with gay bar :giggle: as yours is too new anyway

Lol! :D

Will I have to remove the existing wax before applying PBBH?

Are ya made of money :giggle: budgets way too high fella, save your pennies and only buy stuff you'll get good use of.

Chop the snow foam out, it's not as effective as rinsing with your pressure washer (seriously no joke it's a total waste). That's snow foam, lance, maxi suds and pump dispenser money saved, but crucially you've not lost any pre-cleaning effectiveness, with just your pressure washer. Win win, and my fee is 50% :giggle:

Wheel cleaner is only really needed for neglected wheels. Just use shampoo, for the first wash if they're stubborn you could use APC to get a strong clean (don't spend more than £1 on your apc I'm about 1/4 used of my year old pound stretchers £1 mr muscle concentrated apc, dilute 16:1 and I use the stuff liberally as a jack of all trades).

I think I've just saved you about £60 but I don't see a good shampoo, clay bar or durable wax on your list. Shampoo is shampoo you'll find one you like. Clay bar is clay bar I doubt you'll go far wrong. The nxt wax looks great but looses the shine far too quickly. I wouldn't recommend that one.

If you could sent my fee over I've got my eye on some cg new car fragrance and that would cover it :giggle:

Unfortunately, I have already paid a decent sum of money towards the pressure washer (split between me and Dad, we both use it :p) and the original intention of this was for snow foam. I have read lots of reviews saying it works brilliantly, a lot is down to how well prepped the car is, etc. I am not saying you are wrong in any sense, I just seem to see about 100 positive reviews for every negative - if it turns out it doesn't work, I am sure somebody will be happy enough to purchase the lance off me :D

I already have the NXT wax, bought it a while back, it does the job for now, but is lacking longevity.

As mentioned above, the car is not even a year old yet, I think claying might be wasted on it. The panels all feel pretty decent, the boot probably being the worst out of all.

By the way, you didn't provide an address to send the fee too ;) Haha.

Use the PB NLS instead of the Sonus cockpit, I find it too shiny and sticky. Dodo Born Slippery is very and I use a Sonus Clay bar, mild one. The car will still be covered it fallout, if its new also get some Ironx to cut out any iron filling or crap from the transport. Pop to Tesco and get some daisy for doing engine and door shuts or use Megs APC. Get some good brushes for the wheels.

P.S The NXT wax is an all in one so will remove any glaze underneath, I'd go with Vics or Naviwax with your chosen glaze underneath.

Dump the sonus cockpit ****

As siad above awful stuff supposed to be matt but it's glossy and looks awful no matter how much you buff it

Also, Collinite 476S or PB Nattys Paste Wax Blue?

Collinite 476s , and I would still reccomend snow foam

I suppose it depends on how often you clean it, Simon( baker 21 ) clayed mine for the 1st time at 4 years old , hardly anything on, he used the tiniest peace for the whole car

I ordered the Sonus Clay sample kit which comes with a 3oz piece of clay...how many pieces do you reckon I can get out of this?
