Visibilty Aids ?

Featured Replies

I've had my VRS Estate for about a month and love it, but... gauging exactly where your front wing is seems a lot more difficult than in my other recent cars. I'm used to being accurate within a couple of inches but as Fabia bonnet disappears over the horizon I can't guarantee closer than about 6 inches. Anbody got any comments or suggestions...? I'd like to stick a little "aerial" type thing on each corner to help me..

Cheers

Pete

Maybe the most extreme option is front proximity sensors?

ive seen theses sensors on the back and on the front of big cars i think thats the best way to go. the roomster

has senors on the back so i can't see why you can't put them on the front aswell get a price from the dealers pete

Just wondering, when do you really need to be less than 6 inches from another car anyway ?

Like any car it takes time to get used to its dimensions. I just would take care when parking or stopping behind someone for a while until you get to know it better

When you have a VRS with 180 horses and are behind a slow car in the outside lane?

Some cities are very fortunate regarding parking spaces. In mine 6inches space can make the difference between a parking space or driving around the block like a dizzy fly.

I had front parking sensors on the Octavia I had previously

I found them next to useless

For example when you drove into a space between 2 cars they activated immediately and then gave no indication as to how close you were to the car in front

When parking on a road they could also detect street furniture on the pavement

Others may have another opinion of them

I suppose if you regularly park in a busy place with few spaces, then I can see the point in those parking aids, enabling you to manoeuvre into a space that's a bit tighter.

Anytime I go into Glasgow, I park half a mile from central station, for free, and where there is plenty of space, and saunter over. My wife on the other hand pays £4 a day to park in a space that's too small, and has the dents to prove it.

I like it.... but I am not so concerned about the distance from the front, but at the side, i.e., the kerb or a post, and I don't think front sensors would be a lot of help as it needs to be an instant judgment while you are moving.

Cheers,

Pete

If you can't park with out parking sensors you shouldn't be driving
