Fabia II vRS Estate dog guard

Featured Replies

Guys,

I've asked this question before but I'm really struggling. I need to get a good quality easy fit dog guard for our vRS estate soon, considered the Skoda OEM one but it's dealer fit only - £115 + fitting. They apparently have to take the boot apart to fit it and is a big job, sounds like a nightmare (and v expensive!) so written this one off.

I usually buy Travall guards as they are great quality, easy fit and custom made for the vehicle but there doesnt seem to be one available for the Fabia II estate. I dont want to pay for something that doesnt fit properly or is ****, can anyone with an estate and a dog recommend a good one?

Cheers

Paul

What dog have you got?

My Lab x Weimararner never jumps through the headrests/climbs over so don't need one!

She's rarely in the car anyway so its no biggy.

English Pointer x English Springer, we never used to have a guard but he got spooked once by someone driving too close to us on the M4 and now wont stay in the boot for long without it.

Wouldnt be such a problem if he wasnt 4 stone and very VERY strong!

I know you can buy some OK fits-all type guards but theres no substitute for a custom fit one. Company I usually buy them from dont currently make one for the Fabia II estate, the OEM Skoda one is a load of poo as well. Dealer fit only, most of the boot has to be taken apart for it to be bolted into the car...no good in my opinion unless youre never going to take it out!

Yep, want something you can throw in and out when you please!

I have the Skoda dog/luggage guard in my estate.I couldn't find anything else on the market that was suitable. The mesh part of the guard only covers the area between the top of the seat and the roof, so you can slide long items underneath it. The mesh part is removed by undoing four knurled bolts leaving the side bars in place. You can still use the luggage cover with the guard in place. It's a sturdy and strong bit of kit. Although not cheap I think that it's worth the money.

I have just had the Skoda dog guard fitted by my local dealer and can incur that it is very good. Strong and can be left in place with the seats folded down. Removal is easy as there are only four nuts to loosen. It is NOT fitted to rear seats but the two brackets are dealer fit to side panels. Seemingly there is not a bracket behind the boot trim. The whole boot does not have to be pulled apart to fix these brackets - just two small holes drilled.

Very happy indeed with finished product particularly as I obtained the guard (new) from good old ebay at a very reasonable rate and the dealer fit only cost £60 + vat. Bargain and I can always keep when I change for next Skoda Fabia Estate.

Hope that helps.

Hi

I got a skoda dog guard in my octavia and althought I had it fitted the first time, it really easy as it was just two bolt with an allen key take about 5mins. I would ask to look at one?
