Great site and have found it very helpful indeed.

I have a problem with my reverse lights on my Octavia 05 plate.

The problem is that the reverse lights are on constant when the car is started.People flashing me from behind and it's getting frustrating.

I am having a bad day !!!!

Any help or advice would be great.

Back again.

I have checked all bulbs and fuses and all seem fine.

Just reverse light problem.

Is it likely to be a short somewhere ?

Most likely to be an issue with the reserving light switch which is mounted on the gearbox. Access is by removing the battery and battery tray (iirc, so a bit of a PITA).

The first thing to try would be to disconnect the loom from the switch and if the lights go out then then know the source of the problem (failed switch).

Try putting it in reverse and then back to neutral. Do they go off?

Next test is to unplug the reversing light switch. It the light is still on, it can't be the switch.

It was a faulty switch. Replaced for £9
