Why does my turbo now sound like this?

Featured Replies

Relaced my turbo a month back due to the old one going bang! Drove from my house to the petrol station last night (about a mile) with no problems filled up and made my way home. On the way back my turbo has started to make a sort of supercharger noise, it only does it when driving and on boost. If you stop and give it some revs it wont do it and there is also no smoke.

I thought it could of been a pipe that has blown off, so i have taken the intercooler side of this morning and all seems ok. When i had the guy replace the turbo, the gasket between exhaust and manifold broke and as it was 9.30pm we put it on anyway and i forgot about it. Could the loud noise be this? Also is there anything else i should check?

Many thanks

So do you think this loud whistle could be coming from the missing exhaust gasket?

Does anybody know the part number?

supercharger noise is more linked to turbo failure not gasket missing you find alot of people will run with no gasket at that point n the higher bhp cars ;-)

Mine makes this noise and the oil seals are gone

The question is, why the first turbo go bang? If you haven't solved the problem that killed the first turbo the second once may just go the same way. Could it be a problem with the oil feed to the turbo?

Tis what I am thinking too.....

it was a second hand turbo he fitted aswell so could have been fecked anyways or failing

but i would suggest you do the oil pickup as you may have a slightly blocked oil pickup causing a small starvtion issue wich is resulting in failure of turbo

Already done oil pick up, thats what caused the last one
