SMF chatter ?

Featured Replies

how come you get chatter off a single mass fly wheel. here some off them on you tube and the sound awfull. it should be the other way round that the worn out DMF would chatter which they do . but i dont know why it is doing this with SMF.

whats your opinion SMF or DMF?

i know what you mean, the smf does sound awful but the dmf is designed to dampen vibrations and because the smf doesnt do this[or dampens less of the vibrations at least] you hear the vibrations/chatter. or at least thats how i understand it, could be wrong though :giggle:

I asked this a while ago - think I titled it SMF vs. DMF or DMF vs. SMF. A search might find the thread.

The SMF cannot dampen out the torque spikes generated by a diesel. The chatter you hear is also transmitted through to the gearbox and can lead to gearbox damage.

I spend next to no time on tickover out of gear so no biggy for me tbh

If u are serious about power ditch the dual mass flywheel

The single mass chatter doesnt bother me :)
