Any one Fancy a 3 month old vRS?

Featured Replies

I have been offered a new job which is road based and will be given a company car. Thats good except i have a 3 month old vRS on finance and cant afford (and isnt sensible) to have both.

1) could i sell it back to a dealer and would they want it (has 3k on the clock + a few extras like sat nav and bluetooth)

2)what sort of money would i get for it?

just looking at my options as if i used the fabia as my company car it would have nearly 100k on it after 3 years.

Cheers!

Maybe you could find someone on here to buy it for a little under the asking price to avoid the wait for a new one?

You could ask a dealer, but I'd be prepared for an insulting figure.

Some people don't have a choice, so that funds the 1k minimum (IMO) a dealer will usually make on a car.

Your sig says 18.3mpg at the moment. That may be an expensive company car to run!

i've seen some on the interweb and at dealer for around £13,500 without the satnav, so would like about 12,500.

The MPG is wrong on my sig as ive not added any fill-ups since jan. im now getting between 35 and 40 depending on the speed on the dual carrageway.

If a queue jumper wanted it id say £ 1,500 below what you paid for it to get interest in it. Dealer would probably offer you less and would probably be able to sell it tomorrow to 'someone' in the queue.

Why dont you actually offer it on hear (pictures full spec etc) and see what happens.

can do, i have it on finance but would pay that off obviously. can i just post it in here or do i need to become a freedom member to post in the 'for sale' section?

You need to be a freedom member. But if you can sell one car on the strength of that it's well worth the money.

If you were to sell here you would need to join Freedom at £12 a year.

VAT deal has hurt the vRS's residuals, as others have done have had a trawl on auto trader and found a few (including the one I test drove) all generally around the 12 - £13.5k mark. That largely means that a dealer would probably offer you £9.5 - £11.5K for yours dependant on the spec, maybe less depending on how much margin they want to try to squeeze from it. If you'd bought yours on the VAT deal you'll probably not be too out of pocket but otherwise there would be quite a shortfall in what you owe vs its trade value.

Personally I would have a go at selling it privately for a figure that will write off your finance or there or there abouts. Given how popular the car is at the moment and the supply problems there clearly are I expect someone would buy this from you pretty quickly but you just never know.

Will the company offer you a car allowance instead? That would at least help towards the cost of putting such big mileage on the car. I definitely would look to keep the car if you cant sell it privately as otherwise you are likely to get your pants pulled

this is what I'd suggest, most companies will offer a car allowance as an alternative to a company car, see if you can get this to pay for your vRS.

keep the vrs if you get fuel allowance regardless of the mileage you may put on it,you would be able to get 50mpg on a run if you sell to dealer,he's going to fleece you,if they have offered you the job tell them you'll accept only if you get to keep the vrs :giggle:

Something else you could possibly do (and I guess it would depend on how desperate they are to take you on) but you could see how much you stand to lose by selling the car and try to broker a deal with the new company to pay you the equivalent amount as some sort of joining bonus, thus they pay off the negative equity. Then you can take the company car.

If you explain the situation to them, particularly if you are keen to join and they are equally keen to take you on they may well look to help you out of the situation. If not and particularly if they wont offer a car allowance type alternative i'd tell them to stick it.

Cool. Will look at getting a Freedom membership and selling on there.

would look for about £13k as list (including the 20% off) is about 15k for mine with the extras.

I'd hide your fuelly.com sig badge if I were you as that low an average would make me think you drive the car rather hard. :p

I just provisionally sold an ex-demo Fabia VRS that wont be avaliable for 3 months, the difference of price with a VAT offer factory order Fabia VRS was negligable. You should be able to get fairly decent price. The only reason I was able to sell that one was because the wait was half that of a factory order.

When it's collected it will have 3,000 miles on the clock and be 3 months old. HTH

Put in moth balls in a dry garage, and just pay the finance off.

If job fell through at least you would have some wheels to drop back on.??emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Now in the 'Cars for sale' section @ £13,500 with pictures

Pick mine up Saturday from the dealer, has no sat nav but black alloys, bluetooth and climate, it was £12,995 with 3k miles. Also includes a tank of fuel and the next 2 services.
