Latest waiting times for a vRS.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The impatient person in me couldn't wait any longer and so I rang Skoda UK for an update on the current delivery times and any potential build date for my car (Although I only ordered it 16 days ago so this was a little optimistic).

From Skoda UK customer Services: as of March 21st bulletin: 32 weeks for delivery! Yes, 32 weeks - or 8 months!!!

When I complained that I was told it would be half that MAXIMUM 2 weeks ago she went all coy and "spoke" to a colleague, and came back to me saying it could be 25 weeks - but she was skoda would be pushing them through and hopefully get orders to customers from anything between 20 to 25 weeks. But, it could be up to 32...

So, mixed messages there - but not looking good.

I really want to cancel my order now and find a showroom car somewhere in the country to buy instead, even if it means sacrificing the exact spec I wanted. I think it's really quite poor at the end of the day. My concern is that if I do that - skoda will turn around in a few months and say theyve cleared the backlog and all cars will be early. :wall:

Hi Silv1983,

We're are all in a similar boat I'm afraid. We ordered our car on 30th Jan and it is still looking to be built end of May, got moved forward two weeks but then back to its original date. If they come through with the advised build week that will still mean our cars taken roughly 5 months to build and deliver. When we ordered ours the estimated build times were 18 - 23 weeks, it would seem the queue has grown somewhat!

From experience it would seem the problem exists more with estates and cars with DSG gearboxes, I am aware of a few people getting factory order vRS hatches within 8 weeks, some have been ordered after mine and are due to arrive way before, has made me feel pig sick to be honest.

Fortunately we were in no great rush for the car but from the experience so far I'm not so sure I'll buy another Skoda again. We bought a VW Polo last time round, admittedly got naff all discount and no freebees (not even mats!) but the car we wanted to our spec was built already, in stock and was at the dealers ready for collection within 2 weeks. If Skoda have so much demand, why they cant produce a certain number of stock vehicles for the less choosy of us god only knows!

This is getting ridiculous, Skoda seem to be harking back to the bad old days of the worst of Communist Russia. Some of us older members may remember when we used to laugh at stories of ordering a Lada and having to wait 3 years for delivery. I wouldn't be surprised if these sorts of delays drive lots of prospective customers away. As a footnote does anyone have any idea of waiting times for the Seat & VW models running the same mechanicals? Possibly VAG are prioritising their more "premium" brands at our expense.

Just rang half a douzen retailers in the North West to see if they had any demo/showroom vRS for sale.

Most have nothing now as they've all been diverted to customers. One poor dealer reckoned it was a 12 week wait bless him - another gave the more accurate time of 25 weeks.

The business/production manager/director for Skoda needs sacking as he's costing the company millions!

Dont know how it works but 35 weeks on a Fabia 1.2 TSi DSG and a 16 week wait for an Audi A1 1.2 TSi DSG.

Skoda make the 1.2TSi for all VAG models and are churning out 1500 engines a day last year 60% went outside Skoda but this will increase now the A1 production and new Polo production has started.

Cheers

Lee

Hdi polo is an 8 month wait and has been since the start of the year. My fabia was due in July but I don't want it until late September so better than vw. No idea about seat - never even thought about buying one. Styling is all wrong IMO

Bloody hope not, was told 12 - 15 weeks and went in today to change the style of wheels to Dark Chrome and updated my order. Can't wait 8 months for a car, will be going mad!

This is good news, all these cars are gonna get built to UK spec and then the buyers will pull out. Meaning skoda will have lots of cars just sitting about and I can pick a decent spec one for cheap :D

i hope my order isnt affected, i ordered my vRS 10 days before you (with a lot less options) and the update i got on the 23rd said i was in for a delivery on 28th april, maybe thousands of orders across europe have gone in between my order and yours (the only possible reason for such a MASSIVE gap in our delivery dates, other than a huge fault on the production line), i so hope i havnt been affected, ill be patient and wait till day 40 for another update, should leave me with 18 days till pickup, if i have no delays =/

hopefully your order will be a lot sooner than quoted, wouldnt want fellow briskodians cancelling on us :notme: (look at me, talking like ive been here for years :D )

At this rate think I would be best to order one now as I would be looking at picking up a vRS in the next couple of years!

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. The Skoda factories can only produce a certain number of cars per year, these cars are then shipped to all the markets around the world so each market will be allocated a certain number of cars to sell. If the demand for those cars in a certain market exceeds the supply available from the factory then there is no chance that cars can be built for stock, they will all be allocated to customers. I have heard that dealers are being instructed to hold onto demo cars for longer as all the cars coming into the country are for customer orders and there are no build slots available for dealer demo cars.

My local dealer has a green one as a demo (just finished as a demo now) and ordered a red one which is replacing this one as demand is high but they can't do too many miles in one as it'll be un-economical for them.

Nice to drive one that's done a few miles and run in though.

Well that's carefully crafted top end cars vs. mass-produced low end rubbish for you, innit?

Ordering one tomorrow. My dealer said I would have it by mid-May sound like someone is telling me porkies. But I guess the longer I wait the less of a loan I will need at the end of the day. Not too bad for me, I’m only ordering now cause of no VAT deal really wanted to wait until August time anyway. So looks like I may be getting it around then or even later.

Do you know if the green one has sold or done too many miles to remain as a demo car? Also which dealer in Kent?

Ta

Caffyns in Tonbridge.

£13XXX - can't remember the exact price!

Its done 3k miles, really nice car! Drove really well. Its no longer a demo, red one is being prepped for demo as of this week.

I just bought an ex demo VRS :) Rallye green + black wheels, 6 month old with a nice spec, cruise/climate/bluetooth/parking sensors, 7k on the clock, paid just under £13k with a pretty decent PCP finance deal (slightly higher % but still close enough to new car finance!)

I worked it out and its about the same as a new vat free VRS with depreciation ... but I didnt really fancy waiting 6 months and re-insuring my current car in the mean time :(

I'll post more info when I get it on Friday :D

The dealer in Cantebury (Kent) has an ex demo Rally Green with black alloys for sale.

£13k, registered in June 2010, 4700 on the clock when I was there last week.

Their new demo (shared with their dealership in Dartford) is Candy White also with black alloys.

I ordered my vrs start of feb. It was built last week an is currently making it's way across Europe to the port should be here early/mid April. Original estimated delivery was June.

I also ordered mine at the start of feb with the same quote for end of may but I phoned my dealer last week and he hadn't had a build date through

What options did you go for?

I also ordered mine begining of Feb (8th). Build week is this week. Its a red Vrs Estate with a centre armrest and dark chromes. I know some of the other estate guys saying they have long waits. We were quoted maximum of 16 weeks when we ordered. If it stays on schedule i guess i will have it in 10.

What options did you go for?

Ordered green with black roof, shadow alloys, arm rest, mfsw, bluetooth.

I went for black with black wheels, satnav and climate control so not many extras really
