Hey, crack on with the slightly off-topic discussion, I don't mind.

I see what your saying Grizzle, and perhaps I read your initial post on this thread wrongly but the thought that sprung to my mind when I read it was that you were the type of person who no matter what someone else has done you've done it cheaper, better, faster etc. If I read that wrong then I apologise.

I am VERY happy with my map, and Ben's VERY quick service and will happily recommend him to anyone. Also, if anyone around the Edinburgh-Glasgow 'corridor' wants to have a run in my car to see how it performs then I am more than happy to oblige, obviously depending on work/life/family commitments.

+1, based on some of his other posts....if it's not the case then sorry, but I must admit I thought the same. :)

Just my opinion of course, which I'm sure he won't mind given his evident belief in the right to express an opinion. :p

Well, yesterday evening I went out for a (short) drive in the car.

Since most of my normal journeys are to work and back between 8 and 9am, and 5/6pm, I decided to wait until the traffic calmed down, and was fortunate to catch a favoured stretch of road with no other traffic in front of me for miles.

I travelled through the village (30mph limit) but as soon as I was out the other side I went for it and the DSG kicked down a gear and the difference in the car REALLY became obvious. Absolutely blistering pace, the car went up through the gears and I was genuinely shocked at the performance I was getting. The car just pulled and pulled and pulled.

I kept the car in the D setting, as opposed to the S setting, but I assume the map means the car will hold for longer in each gear as the revs went further up the range before changing into a higher gear.

I used to own a Subaru WRX Impreza that was putting out approx. 240bhp and this DEFINITELY felt faster, and not just by a small margin.

I was reasonably happy enough with the standard performance, but the car now puts a large smile on my face every time I stamp down on the go pedal, it really is THAT good.

Once again thanks Ben, for those of you who are considering a Shark remap I say GO FOR IT :D

there is absolutely no way in this world i would let custom code touch my car. Of all the reviews ive read on forums, custom code is the most prolific for issues.

I also do not agree on buying a map based on cost. If you have paid 10-20k for a car why skimp on a remap which could destroy the most important part of your car, ie the engine/ecu.

Hi Oobster

Excellent wee summary of your STS experience so far and may you have many more happy miles with it. Cost and quality, this is always an individuals own view. If your happy with the purchase and you certainly appear to be, then it was well worth it.

If the Shark unit was available for the CR I wouldn't hesitate to purchase.

So now its done, sit back and enjoy the ride B)

My revo remap is the best 500 quid I've ever spent.

Fuel economy wasn't even something I considered when I decided to go for a remap, I don't know if Ben's map DOES improve mpg but certainly at the moment my mpg is really bad - because every chance I get I am decking the accelerator to feel the powah! Haha :D

Dna stage 3, APR HPFP & 3" downpipe is the best £525 I've ever spent

It's funny I don't feel the need to exploit the power all the time, I think it's just knowing it's there! In 2k miles I have averaged 30mpg, I often get 35+ on my drive to and from work.

If the Shark unit was available for the CR I wouldn't hesitate to purchase.
