Understeer Hell

Featured Replies

So to the forum experts: What is the best way to keep that heavy nose in check?

There's an advantage to that too - the weight on the front helps to get the power down to the road. Compare that to a Cooper S Works, which is constantly looking for grip out of corners, to the point of being bl**dy irritating and almost taking the fun out of a fun car.

Or try to get your hands on one of these...

:D

Yes, I see how that might help as well now you come to mention it. I guess having that heavy lump is just a compromise that we'll have to tolerate.

As for the 4x4 WRC Furby, I've got no chance of affording that ATM :(

true but like me you can just dream about it :D

Understeer comes from too much toe-in. Due to the design this varies as you turn in. From what you describe, toe-in must increase with turn in. You can adjust the static toe-in easily although this may make the car wander in a straight line and tyres wear unevenly if you overdo it.

Get Eibach's - Dampers/Springs, get the Seat Sport strut brace and skodakid's your uncle you'll be fine, TBH it's not understeer now which is a problem on my vRS, it's body roll, once it's lowered i'm sure it'll be fine, with reduced understeer & body roll but enough to let me know when I have seriously overcooked it, I sometimes worry how fast your vRS boys/girls drive :D
