Update on vRS Black Pack & Build Times (Oh, & I just ordered mine!)

Featured Replies

Well after a couple of months of procrastinating and playing around with the online configurator I've just done the deal and ordered a white vRS estate!

Have to say the service at my dealers (can I name them?) was first class.

Anyway, whilst there I was able to obtain the following definitive information on a couple of issues that have been going round and round on here for a while. I want to also state that I saw this on screen for myself in the official memo sent to the dealers.

Firstly, as discussed on other threads I can confirm that the black pack will consist of the lights and grill and will be fitted as standard on all vRS's built after week 22.

Secondly, the average delivery time for a vRS hatch has now slipped to an average of 25 weeks as has been previously mentioned on here, BUT the delivery time on the estate version is an average of only 14 weeks! Obviously this is only a guide but could be an encouraging sign for others waiting for their estates to be built.

The above info is what I put on the other thread from my dealer today. There is still no guarentee however that any of the VAT saving cars will arrive with the black pack ie after week 22 despite the current leadtimes.

I hope this is true for estates, i ordered mine the end of Jan and dont have a build date yet though, so here is hoping i get a date soon

So this week being week 13 a 25 week lead time would but the car is week 38 (end of September) Remind me why I'm not cancelling at the moment!

Plus I don't think Skoda could justify not putting the Black Pack on and expecting customers to wait that long!

I kinda like that its going to be standard... seeing as I already have my car, maybe it will be a bit more exclusive?! ;)

Ordered my vRs hatch today and was told 25 weeks. still it will have the black pack on which i was going to fit so saved a bit of money there. Just hope my old car holds up for 6 mounths

I HATE the black grill but like the lights

Can one have the black lights without the black grill??

Really struggling to understand this. I ordered my green machine (Hatch model) on Wednesday morning and I've been informed 3-4 months, which to my calculations is 12-16 weeks putting it in for June-July.

I just hope it's my dealer that's right and everyone else is lying! (likely?........probably not!

Ordered mid march and was told by my dealer may/june I asked several times as if it was going to be longer then a clio sport would have been on the cards. Fingers crossed he wasnt bulling sh*tting me

BUMP!

  • 2 weeks later...

Looked at a Monte Carlo today at the dealers

The lights are black..Yes BUT....They dont have a main beam..Its a Bi-Halogen with the sidelight bulb where the Main beam should be...so not a direct fit if you have a new Fabia II.

I was told my car is now build 18 and will be getting it around end of may, and with black-pack as standard, as the car is still not built. Anyone else been told this, seems everyone has a different date, and not all are getting the black-pack.

Black pack is not standard fit until week 22 (1st week in June) when the 2012 MY cars start being built. Most if not all VAT free cars will be 2011 MY cars, suspect a handful of people who ordered their cars very late in March will end up with the black pack but thats it.

In any case I'm not so sure I like the black pack. If you look at the pics of Tunpero's white vRS estate theres clearly nothing wrong with the existing silver lights and grille. thats what mine will have and I'm more than happy with that.

I don't believe your statement can possibly be applicable anymore unless you're suggesting they've got a batch of MY2011 cars laying around and will keep extending the VAT free offer till they've all been allocated?

I know some factories used to produce batches of cars in the same colour, no idea if that still applies in general or with Skoda. I'm also aware that with Audi that some dealers are given a bigger allocation of cars than others, again I'm unsure if that applies to Skoda despite them being part of VAG. Speaking to my dealer he recounted an instance when they ordered about thirty cars on the same day for a business customer but the Skoda factory went on to build and deliver them in seperate batches.

Personally I'd like the black pack as I'm not keen on the chrome grill on a white car, the smoked headlights I could live without. It's great that we all like different combinations and can respect each other's desires. B)

Who knows what they'll do, i think its likely they'll be working hard to catch up with the demand and get as many VAT orders processed as 2011 MY cars. After all the deal technically only applies to MY 11 cars as the MY 12 cars are not yet in production. They may even delay MY 12 builds to deliver the final few MY 11 orders.

Not sure about yours but my car was ordered as an MY 11 build, so i'd expect it to be to MY 11 spec.

I wouldnt be bothered if my car came with the Black pack either but I know it wont. The silver grille is actually mostly black anyway (slats arent silver). Model year changes are frustrating anyway as you can never guarantee getting the latest model year unless you order your car at a particular time, we ordered ours when we did as we needed to get a new car sorted and didnt want to miss out on the VAT deal.

BUMP!

Im the opposite, i like the grill but not the lights. Some collaboration could be in order lol

Ordered my new Fab VRS yesterday, dealer told me that the Black Pack would be fitted. Thought about getting it in white, then realised it would probably look like a panda so went for all black. having read some of these threads I'm not holding my breath in terms of seeing it any time soon. Although apparently production normally ramps up May June time. If I look towards September, anything sooner would be a bonus, we'll see. Got to try and keep my '06 VRS going til then!

The black pack is now on the online configurator as a no cost option. However it states LHD which I assume is Left Hand drive so not sure what’s happening there.

Yeah, I was a little confused as to the meaning of this. I've fired an email off to a local dealer asking what this all means, and whether the black pack is indeed standard fit on the vRS or not.

Trying to think what else LHD might be an acronym for...!?

If you click the little green i icon it just loads what looks like a stock content management system image... (at the time I type this anyway)

perhaps they haven't finished editing the website or whoever made the change put it live last thing Friday before rushing off for a pint.

Lead times suck. We ordered our vRS estate end of Jan and its not due to turn up until Mid May. Could be later if the build week slips as it has done twice already.

So will the black pack be on the estate or not? I am tempted to order one. Seen somewhere that it's 8-14 weeks which puts it into July which works out great for me since my insurance with Swiftcover runs out in July and I'll need to switch insurance companies because:

1. They won't insure me on it

2. Swiftcover only give 5 years no claims

Ordered my vRS one week ago.

Dealer informed me projected delivery would be late July/early August. He didn't mention the Balck Pack but would this delivery mean it will possibly be fitted? Colour will be Race Blue.

if its a no cost option is anyone interested in swapping the black pack for the chrome grill and clear headlights? Its mainly the black grill i want

My dealer said any vRS built week 22 onwards will have the black pack added on as a no cost option. He also said if I ordered now he was almost certain it would be added.
