Skoda go it alone

Featured Replies

Just been reading a VW corporate article which confirms that VW are to sever links with Skoda by the end of this year. There will be no support from VW and their engines etc. will no longer be available for use by Skoda.

Go on then..... Give us a link.

How's that going to work? At the moment Skoda is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen-Audi group. Are you saying VW-Audi plan to sell Skoda? Who to? What's the source of your story?

Am I bit slow here ... just realised it's April 1st! :wonder:

Lirpa loof.:giggle:

That is much too thick to be an effective

April Fool

Interesting idea, mind I can't see the 1.2TSI pulling a Superb around :giggle:

For the uninitiated the 1.2 HTP, 1.2TSI and there gearboxes are Skoda components B)

Not to be tooooooo picky Tim, but they are VAG components, manufactured by Skoda.

technically maybe :giggle: but as they manufactured small capacity lightweight motors before VAG was looking for a senior partner ;) so I view them as Skoda, plus I'm sure I've read somwhere they had a hand in designing them :wonder:

Regards as always,

Look at the bore/ stroke v the 1.4TSI - it's the VAG engine, not a Skoda-driven product.

Perhaps Skoda will be 'sold on' to Porsche (keeping it in the family), who as a manufacturer need a range of cars with small engines/low CO2 to keep their overall eco profile low.

Now that's an idea? :giggle:

.... actually I quite like the sound of that.

Hasn't anyone yet realised that this was announced by Loof Lirpa.
