DPF Removal

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. I've got the DPF light coming on my Superb PD140 with the BSS engine. I've just had the turbo reconditioned at Turbo Technics due to an overboost problem which may have been caused by the DPF as both problems are coming up now!!! Having read most of the posts about it does anyone know where i can get the stupid thing removed and the ECU sorted? I live near Banbury. Cheers

I am not sure its possible to have the DPF removed on your PD140, I know of at least one other member who has looked into this in the past without success. The DPF has nothing to do with overboost problems, they are typically caused by the turbo vaines sticking which should now be resolved for you. If you have a DPF problem, check the fluid in the tank at the back of the car has not run out, otherwise the DPF cannot clean itself.

Also remember the DPF has a service life and needs to be changed at around 80,000 miles.

Thanks guys. It's done 62000 miles. The turbo was a bit dirty but the vanes seemed to move OK. Replaced the N75 as well. I was just wondering if the DPF was blocking then would that cause a back pressure to the turbo and cause an overboost as it is still giving the overboost codes on VAGCOM readout? I will check the Gunk tank though. I belive that's stupidly expensive as well!!!

We've done PD140 DPF deletes before with no worries, if you'd like to get in contact with us then we could go through the finer points

Also remember the DPF has a service life and needs to be changed at around 80,000 miles.

It's normally the fluid needs topping up at around 80k and the DPF only needs changing if it totally blocks and can't be re-gen'd.

Anyone can do dpf removal at home. You just need to purchase a suitable replacement pipe to slot in. Most of them these days are attached via V band clamps so really easy to remove. Then you just need someone to switch it off in the ecu. Some people have turned this into a very profitable job. The problem with the superb dpf system is that it is too far from the engine so runs too cold and can't spontaneously regenerate. Even with the Cerium additive that lowers regeneration temperature by 50 C.
