Replacing Clutch

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Im after some advice on replacing my clutch, can i just replace the clutch? any parts if the job requiring special tool other than the clutch alignment tool, how long will it take. And any more info you think i will need to know. :smirk:

Personally I think if your on here your unsure of how to change the clutch and think you should take it to a professional, whether you need a flywheel or not you can't usually tell until the clutch is out anyway but I would imagine that it won't. The clutch is a big job to do on any car I can tell you that from past experience and I personally wouldn't want to undertake the job myself

Hope this helps

It's a big box stuffed in a small engine bay

bit of a pig of a job, you'll need some 12 splined bits to get the shafts and box off. M12's i think. And probably a 3 ft extension to get in from the wheel well because the shaft bolts are awkward as hell to get at from underneath, on top is easiest but access is a right pain!

Thanks for helpful advice,

Are they any problems from lowering the gearbox from below "any obstructions".

Ok just thought you were goin to try and attempt it not knowing what you were doing, if I'm right you will need a Clutch plate centrering tool or the gearbox won't go back on the gearbox shaft will stop it you will also need quite a few bolts for the engine mount etc as the are single use bolts will be useless once they come out and you may need to drop the engine a couple of inches on the n/s
