Any one know anything about this german manufactured adjustable tuning box.

Company has good reviews.

However, expensive to buy on a whim and get ebay type module.

thanks

It's an interesting video clip. Site suggests 27% increase in torque and 20% increase in bhp (to 178) for a 140 tdi.

I do like the idea of a chip that does not require standard components to be modified and which can be taken off.

doesnt look bad, plus it only costs 129 euro for my 2L diesel 110 and it gives some significant gains.

The only question is: does it connects to ECU or to a some sensor? I mean: does it replacing an ECU firmware or just 'fools' some sensor?

Doesn't it just plug into the injection harness and push more fuel in ?

I had a 'Tuning Box' on a Golf 115 PD, gave nowhere near claimed power. Struggled to match 130 PD!

Shedloads on Ebay at all prices!

Suspicious of claims TBH!

Isn't claimed uplift for 170CR to 220 bhp questionable without other mods - eg DPF removal?

When Ben eventually gets the STS unit working with these protected ECU's that will be the best, as you will then be able to upload whatever map you want, when you want. ie come service time put back the standard map. come out of service and put back the modified map.

I am wary of upgrading the ECU on a car as it can cause warranty issues.

Seeing how the box upgrade works

together with the extra load it can put on the turbo,I have consigned it to the bin.

The extra oil usage reported by some users with the 1.2 TSI, has already given me concern that there could be Turbo problems on some units

Where can I find info about extra oil usage and Turbo problems? Got any links?

I was intrigued by this product and after having discussed it with a mechanic friend who has fitted a similar type of box to his current M-B E Class and earlier Mercs, I decided to buy one.

Fitment is probably no more thna 5 minutes from opening to closing the bonnet.

How does it feel?

This is of course quite subjective but, the engine feels smoother, there is definitely an improvement in the mid-range from about 2000 rpm and it is possible that there is an improvement to the fuel consumption.

The mpg improvement could be down to me changing my driving style. The improvement at 2000 rpm is definitely there and has a similar feel to the power delivery of my old Passat 170.

I'm a bit nervous over stories of increased oil consumotion and higher turbo temperayures but there's no evidence so far of any problems.

try www.energy tuning.co.uk.this is where i will go when i fitt one to mine, try it for a month,if you dont like it you get your money back, cant be bad.£250 fitted, work with the father of one of the lads who work there[son in law] so i trust them.take a look, see what you think, and its british made!!they told me it will work great on my yeti.cant afford one at the moment[road tax]but will get one soon.guess fitting depends where you live, but you can fitt it yourself.

Use of these 'magic boxes' may still compromise your warranty and most importantly don't forget to tell your insurers!

Personally I think they're 'The Emperor's New Clothes'

Insurance informed, modification noted, no additional charge.

Well done Saga. Common sense on winter tyres and tuning boxes.
