Drivers side window squeaks. Lots.

Featured Replies

I can't really tell where abouts around the window it is coming from, but my drivers side squeaks a lot when going up / down.

So, silly question but are there any common bits to check??

Read some other forums and they suggested some Silicone Grease, so I tried this ... to no avail :( I can't really figure where it is coming from.

both of mine started doing it this week, annoying as.... a solution would be nice.

Indeed. My passenger side is fine... I sprayed that Silicone stuff everywhere. Loads down the edges of the window seals, loads along the rubbery strip inside. Then gave up and just sprayed loads in the door (took the weather strip off outside). Nothing seemed to really help :(

Could it be the actual runners inside the door, the window sits on two plastic tabs that are clipped onto a metal runner each, the plastic rubbing on the metal might be causing it. If you have the door trim off, there are two rubber grommets on the ancilleries carrier, take them off and the runners are in line with them, perhaps greasing them could solve the problem, if you moved the window up and down it would spread the grease over the runners.

I did try spraying those too. You can see those with the window up and the weather strip removed ;)

Fair enough, no joy spraying them then? what about the the pulleys themself?

nah it sounds like the rubber seals on the window, like nails on a chalkboard

clean your windows? mine did this until I cleaned it and now is fine thought it might have been tree dew?

Door inner seal is worn. It has like a little "velvet" strip that prevents squeaking noises.

6y0837472b Right (at least for my 2005 Fab I)

check with your dealer.

Cheers.

I think I got those by mistake when I wanted the door seals http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/196810-replacing-door-seal-not-the-usual-leaky-doors/

I'll see if the dealer still has them. Maybe it'll solve my wind noise problem too, though I doubt it....

Well, I tried the door seal in that thread but it made no difference for me.

I'm now trying the inner window seal. I am not sure if it is those part numbers or not though. I think those numbers might be for the horizontal strip which the door card clips in to (which probably will solve the squeaking I imagine...) ?

I will let you know Friday when they arrive... and the outcome of fitting them on Sunday.

Sorry, not been feeling well so I didn't attempt this yet :(

It looked a bit daunting, as the window seal goes 3/4 the way down in to the door on one side. I'm not sure if I can do it or not.

I did press hard around the plastic wing mirror cover thing on the drivers side though, as it seemed a bit loose.... and it made a loud click! It seems like it might be a bit quieter....

Hey guys,

I have the same problem on my 2005 Furby, I purchased both Inner and Outter Window Slot Seal (as ETKA calls them) for each window (the one with the velvet strip). The inner ones need to be replaced with the door trim off, as the trim "rests" on its lip, the outer one can be pulled off with no tools. You just need to push them hard towards the chassis or bang it carefully with a rubber hammer :)

Anyways, I almost raged when the noise was still there! It's crazy! I sprayed silicone to the sliding guides, but the material absorbs all the silicon lol, so no cigar.

I will go downstairs now and take the trim off and try to locate the culprit, as my options are limited cause the metal cover of the window mechanism is riveted into the door chassis (thaks to the Dealer's wonderful idea). Will take some pics and videos too :)

Cheers.

So Im down here in my car with the trim off, I lubricated the window carriers and the white plastic mounts... still no luck... the sound seems to be comming behind the same motor and it spreads all over the insides of the door... I took a video, hope it helps :( Is it safe to remove the motor without making the window fall or screwing the mechanism?

Here is the video Squeaky Window

This mechanism looks very similar to the Fabia's, I wonder which part is causing this

Window Carrier

cheers
