Brighter headlamp bulbs

Featured Replies

One of my front headlamp bulbs has gone out and being not that impressed with how bright they are am looking for brighter bulbs. Their seems to be a lot of choice out there so just looking for other peoples opinions on what they would recommend.

Have replaced bulb for time being to keep legal!

I have for years (in all my cars) used either OSRAM or PHILIPS bulbs. These are always in top 3 in independent tests for the best beam pattern, etc. For th. e brigest amount of light on the curb and down the road then either Osram "night breaker" or the Philips equivilent. Also remember that you have the High beam bulbs and the Dipped main beam bulbs to "upgrade". B)

These three are the best:

Philips X-Treme +90%

Osram Nightbreaker +90%

Ring Xenon Max +100%

I have a set of the Philips X-Treme Vision +100%, and I cannot tell you how much better they are!

I can actually still see the road infront of me when someone is coming in the opposite direction.

I obviously have skinnier hands than you then. :giggle:

Once the battery cover was removed, access is a bit of a squeeze, but certainly not impossible.

I managed OK and did it without removing that cover. I must have small hands. The only tips I can give is, DO NOT touch the glass part with your bare hands, if you accidentally do, wipe it with IPA or Meths and a paper towel. Also be careful not to push the bulb inside the headlight itself.

I would recommend the X-Tremes (80 or 100%) as you will see a difference in vision. If you want the Osrams, go for the newer Nightbreaker Plus bulbs, as the old ones had a reputation of literally doing that, Break at Night.

I didn't find it difficult, the only issue was one of the latching tabs at the top of the lamp access hatch snapped off. Dealer told me it always happens..... cheap carp skoda plastic again.

what are the list of bulbs on the mk1 fabia vrs?

H3 for both the high beam and the front fogs, H7 for the dipped beam. B)

Cars without Xenons

H3 - Main Beam

H7 - Dipped

H3 - Fog

PY21W - Indicators

W5W - Side lights

I'm not sure about the side repeaters.

+1

Couldn't get them in H3 for main beam though, so I got some PIAA platinums, which are pretty good

Did the later VRS's have a different battery cover - I can change mine without even getting involved there.

Looks like they did as my 07 plate hasn't got a full battery cover and the bulbs can be change without removing anything apart from the back light cover.

Anyone know the cheapest place for these in H7? Cheapest I can find in over 30 quid a pair.

Last year I bought bulbs from Powerbulbs and get excellent service from them. I found a discount code and got 10% off them.

If you want to find them even cheaper, I would imagine eBay is the answer.
