Octavia MkI VRS knocking noise

Featured Replies

Hi

I've got a Mk1 Octy VRS and it's developed a knocking noise on the from left corner. I had the anti roll bar done 5 months ago so I don't think it's that. I think it might be the CV joint i had it up in the air today and there is some play in it. The noise is mostly at low speed when cornering and manoeuvring but does also occur when going over bumps sometimes.

I've looked around the forum and it sounds similar to other people but my car's done 73k miles so not sure if that's the right sort of mileage for the CV joint to be going.

How hard is it to do them yourself? I know one end of a spanner from the other and have already done the break disc's front and rear on the car but I'm no professional.

Any thoughts

Cheers

my vrs developed a knock noise a few weeks ago then i realised it was the wife whinging at me to let her in the car

CV joints / bearings are a pain due to the ABS ring iirc.

How about a lower rad mount? They seem to be quite a common failure.

bottom ball joint is another poss!
