Taking off a remap

Featured Replies

Afternoon

Does anyone know if the Fabia vrs has the same standard map as a golf 1.9 Tdi 130 as its the same engine? Going to have to take the remap off mine as not having very much interest in selling it and just wondering what options i have and if a VW dealership could do it?

Thanks

Maps are all different, the best way to get a map off is to go back to whoever put the map on. Before mapping they usually take a file copy of the map already on the car should you want to remove it or have issues.

find it hard to believe every fabia vrs has a different map. Will see what the dealer says when i call them tomorrow.

Yes, but its not the same as a golf one, also the map is tied to the ECU, and you cannot simply apply any map. Normally remaps are done by reading the current standard map including the ECU data, editing it and reflashing it back to the car. You cannot easily take a map, even from another standard car and flash it.

The problem i have is that i dont know who remapped the car as it was done when i bought it. Will a Skoda dealer not be able to flash it back to a standard map?

We can't flash a lot of the Fabia stuff, the ecu programs are on CDs still and might not cover the vRS.

Not good :'(

There are thousands of ecu programs so we couldnt have them all, we only have them if they have produced an update.

Most tuners will be able to reflash it back to standard for you. I'm unsure of your location but we can do it for you if you'd like.

The only time a problem would arise is if there's a physical chip had been fitted with an encryption board but that went out of fashion around 2001/2002.

Spot on

I couldn't tell that my ibiza was mapped when i bought it. Seems a lot of hassle taking a map off, when you could just tell the potential buyer it has a 'healthy engine' so to speak!

i bought a standard one from skoda in 07

turns out it had pd160 intake

green cotton filter

and remap

rolling roaded at 173bhp
