fuel shut off solenoid tdi

Greetings fellow skoda people.

I am the proud owner of an octavia tdi with the 1.9 engine, registered in 2000

I have no power coming down the black and yellow wire to the fuel solenoid.

If i supply the terminal on top of the solenoid, then the engine starts up perfectly.

Does this wire go back to the ecu, and is there any reason why i can't replace the original wire with an ignition fed supply?

This is only my second skoda. My my how times have changed from my old estelle 120

Hello, if you could message me your full chassiss number i will be able to look at the correct wiring diagram for your car and tell you where that wire goes, what it needs to have and possible faults. Also, exactly what solenoid are you having issues with?

The solenoid is connected to the immobiliser.

Thanks for that. it seems that the wire travels from the solenoid to the "Barometric pressure sensor" which it integral with the ecu.

I called at a local VW garage, and described the problem, and how i had over come it, and they suggested just replacing the wire with an ignition fed substitute.

I will try their suggestion, and see how it goes.

Is that what they told you? Why would the barometric pressure sensor need to supply the solenoid, doesn't make sense. The atmospheric pressure is calculated inside the ECU, using a MAP which takes input from the air mass meter, which sends altitude readings, as well as air flow. There is no sensors of any kind within the ECU.

Its up to you if you want to run your own ign' fed live to it, but not really advisable. If you do, be sure to isolate the ECU from it so the ign' feed doesn't get to the ECU possibly causing later issues. I'm surprised a VW dealer would suggest it.

Like I say, i could check the correct wiring diagram to help further, but i need the full VIN number.

Thanks for your help. i have checked the black & white wire, all the way back to the ecu, and its fine. Seems it must be the ecu that is faulty now. never mind, i will try the fix that you suggested. Thanks again. :rofl:
