Modded exhaust

Featured Replies

Not had the car long and although I was told there had been a few mods, ecu, exhaust etc all I knew was the exhaust was loud!! While having some new tyres fitted I asked them to have a look on the ramps. Now I know why it's so noisy.......

The rear silencer is missing and there is a straight through pipe to the last bit of twin pipes in the end can. I ideally want the original exhaust as I have no desire for more noise! Any suggestions?

i will in the next month have an oem back box from an 02 vrs up for grabs. its in very good nick indeed.

I have one it is 4 months old paid£275 from dealer open to a offer .I have receipt for it still...

have one wrapped up here that a lad messed me around for, £100 delivered to your door or come and collect it for £85, came off the car at approx 60k, no holes etc. that includes the downpipe and cat. PM me if interested

cheers guys. It looks like mine was cut about a third way down the car, after the cat I think. The systems you have would I need to adapt it or would it go straight on? sorry to sound dim, I'm not sure how many sections the exhaust comes in.......

IIRC it is 3 parts from the cat back. a mid silencer which sits within a cross beam about halfway down the car. then a curved section taking it from that mid silencer towards the back of the car, up and over the rear axle and then the big bulky back box which sits on two hangers right at the back of the car.

i would have a look under there if i were you and just see (possibly even take some photos) and upload them here so we can have a peak. it maybe if the previous owner has gone to the trouble of removing the back box that the other 2 parts (from the cat back) have also been changed.

Mine would go straight on with a sleeve to rejoin the backbox and centre section, they sell them in halfrauds for a few quid

i have a standard 51 plate with a standard exhaust? if you wanted would do u a swapfor yours?

I will try and take some pics this weekend. Thanks for the offers. It's pay day on Wednesday so we shall see. A swap definitely is better for me!

Lee,

do you still have the exhaust?

can't pm you for some reason.

cheers

i do indeed :)

If you put a rear silencer on you might lose a bit of low down torque.  People remove it on this car because the exhaust system is a bit too restrictive and from what I believe removing the rear silencer can give you a small improvement to torque and responsiveness with the engine/turbo.
