Final choice for options on Greenline

Featured Replies

OKay so getting a Greenline, finance all sorted and deposit ready to be placed...

however i haven't decided on the most important things yet...

Firstly i haven't decided on the colour... i have to keep the cost as LOW as possible so it's solid colours only

which means Blue, Red or White... i have a Red fabia mk1 at the moment and hate it. defo no red cars unless they are italian

that leaves blue or white???? what should i go for

Second is the options list... there is three options i want

1)Rear electric windows

2)Maxi-dot

3)Leather steer wheel

now i can afford all 3 options if i must but ideally would like to cut one out.

i want the electirc windows because i carry multiple passengers on the weekends and it's nice to spend £12000 on a car and not have winders on them..

I want the maxi-dot so i can see what the computer is calculating my MPG at... does the standard trip computer do that??

i want the leather wheel cos after driving a car with the plastic wheel i noticed it didn't feel very nice... will i regret not getting the leather wheel cos the plastic one annoys me or will i learn to live with it. please let me know what you chose and if you regret/recommend your choice

White is popular because it looks fresh and is bright.

Colour is personal, but I find the blue a bit of a "background" colour. It's quite dark.

Obviously I'd go for the white as I did. :D

Do not drop the leather steering wheel option, the basic steering wheel is plastic and feels cheap. I couldn't spec the leather controls on my estate, but the steering wheel felt so cheap I paid the dealer after a week to fit a leather one. You are going to spend a long time holding that wheel so it needs to be nice to use.

The maxi-dot is good and has additional features, but the standard system will show your mpg.

We have maxi-dot in our Yeti and it's very good, but I don't miss it in the GL2 because I've never felt the need to fiddle with the extra bits. The basic system does give you mpg, distance, fuel range etc... but with maxi-dot you also get a different dash that includes a temp gauge. The basic dash just has a little blue light to tell you when the engine is cold. If that bothers you, get the maxi-dot.

I did also get the rear electric windows, as it was going to be a work car and we get transport children. I didn't want them messing about with the windows.

But as I like it I've kept it for myself... and so the rear windows have never been used.

Parking sensors can be handy, as they can help avoid silly mistakes. Again, went for them as it was going to be a work vehicle due to cutting down future repair costs.

not being funny but why spend 12k on a car without the options you want - bite the bullet and pay for what you really want, or else look for something with the spec you want at a price you can afford

thanks for the feeback... i think i'm gonna make another trip to the dealers before i order and get them to give me a maxi-dot demonstration

and i will decide wheather it's really needed.... especially if the standard trip shows mpg and range which is all i really wanted.

but i was thinking i would end up being in the same situ as you Richard if i don't go for the leather wheel then i will regret it.

STSkoda i see your point... with the 5 month wait i am thinking that should be enough time to muster up the extra £175 for the leather wheel.

If you are getting a hatchback I believe the leather pack also includes the handbrake grip and gearstick too.

It cost me over £200 for all three as I couldn't spec them on my estate, after a day I wanted to rip the plastic steering wheel off and throw it away. :(

(sorry to go on, but IMHO it's cheap and nasty and you have to hold it all the time!)

If you're so bothered about keeping costs as low as possible, why have you got another thread going about trying to make the car look like a vRS by buying expensive bumpers etc?

Hi Sonner,

Think whites the colour! :-)

I'd definitely say yes to the leather wheel, standard wheel is a bit cheap and nasty. For something you have to touch day in day out might as well pay a few quid to make it a nice experience. I would actually recommend getting the Radio multi function wheel if poss, not a great deal more expensive and nice not to have to take your hands off the wheel to adjust volume and skip tracks etc. Is of course leather too.

Maxi dot......all in the eye of the beholder. Does look nice and offers text based warnings for various car faults rather than just warning lights. You also get a proper water temp and fuel gauge and crome rings for the dials. Essentially its a different binicle. However if you just want MPG and gearchange recommendations the standard computer will do all that, its just not quite as functional or as pretty. Instead of the temp gauge you get a little blue light that stays illuminated until the car has warned up.

Elec rear wins, nice to stop people opening the windows as it has a lockout button, does my head in when I give someone a lift and they get out and leave a window open. At least with elec wins you can close it from the confort of the drivers seat and lock em down! Not a necessity really but I wouldnt have a car without them nowadays, particularly if you have kids.

Parking sensors on a hatch are a bit pointless in my opinion, is a small car so doesnt really warrant them. The estate is a different matter though as is quite long and is a benefit to have them on one of them.

Glad you are keeping the options sensible though, best to make the most of the VAT deal I reckon. We've only spec'd a couple of really basic things on our vRS estate.

Interestingly I recently ordered a Greenline fabia Estate with Parking sensors as an option only to be advised this week by the dealer that the Parking sensors are no longer available and this has been removed from my order

I don't know why ?

Given 27 weeks delivery so ETA probably Sept 2011

Possibly part supply problems from Japan?

Possibly part supply problems from Japan?

Probably, or VW limiting the options Skoda can sell. Yes, I am that cynical when Skoda cream VW in just about every survey. :D

I heard front sensors were being discontinued as an option on Greeline SE Yeti's from the 2012 year spec too.

Thanks for comments peeps.

LeedVrs the mods i was planning on doing would be dependent upon funds at the time, some months i have some spare dollar, most i don't! it's something i was thinking of doing when i have the time and money but certainly not immediately... away that phase is over cos Richard and Pipsy talked me out of it.

Hi again Pipsy, well i don't have kids in the back of my car but i have immature friends, and i'm much the controlling type like yourself :giggle: so rear electric windows are a bit of a must.

thankfully the options lists at Skoda are quite small and concise

maybe it's my age but i hate that so many manurfacturers don't offer upgraded stereos, i was so close to buying a vovlo C30 over the Mito last year purely because of the awesome dynaudio system but thankfully Alfa altered there options list at the time meaning i could get the stereo system with a sub and 8 speakers so the Mito it was....

i think it was noticing that the Greenline 2 had 8 speakers rather the just front speakers swung it for me.

I dug out some pictures of mine in white for you as you were talking about the colour...

I still find it quite odd (IMO) that the GL2 gets a good aero package on the front bumper with a mini-splitter plus DRLs and front Fogs, yet the VRS doesn't seem to get the splitter or fogs?

White the blue is dull to me.

The standard dash works fine, gives mpg etc.

If I did long journeys all the time I would have the leather steering wheel with controls.

Electric rear windows enable all the windows to be opened and closed with the fob and stop children playing with the windows.

5 months for order :(

Yeah i'm pretty decided about the rear electric windows....

see i am leaning towards Blue... and my thinking behind it was that White seems to be the "in" colour and in the last 3yrs has made a huge comeback, what i am concerned about is will it suddenly become undesireable in 3yrs time..

i prefer the white but thought that the Blue would be better for resale... but it sounds like im kidding myself about that now

White or blue should be OK for resale.

wait time is TOOO long... they make GT3 RS in less time! even an imported from America C06 only has a 18week wait

my dealer quoted 22weeks.

but not putting in the order till i have passed my MR2 onto my neighbour at the beginning of May. so if i make to call and put the order in on say mon 9th may then im looking at start of OCT for delivery. well i shall enjoy my sexy little Felcicia until that point

The colour won't make a huge difference come resale time, so if you are keeping it for more than a year I'd just get what you want.

I tend to opt for visable colours so people can see me.

And most of my business vehicles are white, so the car fits in as it was supposed to go on the fleet...
