Parking Sensor shortage?

Featured Replies

Another poster has mentioned that parking sensors have been removed from his order and are not available as an option.

I heard from a dealer that parking sensors on the elegance model are no longer a standard item but can be specced as an option to alleviate supply issues at the moment.

I presume, from reading other posts on here, that these issues are related to the problems in Japan. Thoughts, or any other enlightening input?

I certainly haven't heard anything from my dealer to suggest there is a shortage.

Options are being limited on the Greenline Models I think.

Yeti ones can't have front sensors on the SE now, which they could before...

I am cynical so I think it's VW changing things for the 2012 model year to try and keep Skoda in their place. :dull:

But Japan could be the answer too...

I've got a GL2 due to be built next week, though still not confirmed (!), with parking sensors. Dealer hasn't mentioned a problem...

A couple of people have mentioned that the sensors aren't really necessary on the hatch, but I wouldn't want to do without them purely because of some of the awful carparks I've got around here with pillars, bollards, and trees left, right, and centre! Thought the price of adding them would be less than replacing the rear bumper! Hopefully they won't take them off my order.

I think the changes are from 2012 model year, which starts being built around May.

Ah I see, so people who've been told they've been taken off their order presumably have a build week that takes them into MY12. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, we wanted front sensors on a Yeti Greenline, but when the dealer went to order and Skoda saw the car was going to be built in the MY12 period we were told no. If it had been built a few months earlier we could have had them. :wonder:

The japan problems are causing issues with all kinds of things. Today we were told that there is a shortage developing in HP OEM Laser Printer toner cartridges as most originate from Japan.

Seat have removed the parking sensors from thier convience pack they did this some time ago on the ibiza

Spoke to dealer and as far as he knows Elegance will continue to have parking sensors standard fit.

Cheers

Spoke to dealer on Monday and they referred to some memo to confirm that sensors on Elegance are now option only. The plot thickens. Who knows the truth?

Still showing as standard fit on the website and on the configurator

If parking sensors are deleted and are not available as an option then I shall be cancelling the order.

Cheers

The parking sensors as an accessory are ok..but you dont get the display on the radio etc

If you've ordered an Elegance thats due to be built from week 22 onwards I would make a point of checking with your dealer. Would be very disappointing to have the car turn up without them if you particularly wanted them.

Sadly I believe Skoda do reserve the right to alter their vehicle specifications at any time so trying to hold them to include these on your order free of charge may prove difficult. If you can live without them I'd not worry about it too much.

I was led to believe it's the optional ones on Greenline modesl that was being discontinued.

All the Yeti modesl that have standard sensors still get them.

I shall be really really cross if this is the case, esp. as we've been given a build date in July ATM, and the parking sensors are one of the few extras that we wouldn't ditch if we had too.

gone for the estate, which already had less options availible to it.

Will Not Be Happy.

Thank god I got my elegance in feb, vw are taking loads off skoda simply because skoda is out selling vw, even the head of vw said that FABIA gets more free stuff than a polo , so this is the reason why we are seeing skodas being stripped

I have just been to have a play with the configurator, and can confirm that the rear parking sensors have been removed as an option of the greenlines.

Not very impressed. Will contact the dealer, and try to find out whats happening with our order today.

Will keep you guys up to date!

Sorry don't understand the links Thimgy, but it was all over the press releases in 2009-2010, head of vw was saying that skoda gives better value for money, and that a standard polo has less kit than a fabia,

Right, have finally chased my dealer, they seem quite bad about getting back to me when promised, but do seem to bother to go and get the info, so

They have told me that Skoda UK have confirmed to them that as long as an option was on the original order that was accepted, it will be honoured. So if your ordered parking sensors, despite the fact that they aren't there any more, you will still get them.

Hope that this clears things up a bit.

That's the impression I got too. Mine was built wk16 and is on its way. The dealer certainly hasn't said anything to suggest a problem... touch wood
