Sporty Car for 12G and under?

Featured Replies

if its new then what about that Daihatsu YRV 1.3 Turbo with 130bhp

Not really what I'd call a sports car TBH... more of a very fast minibus.

How about a late Fiat Coupe 20v or 20v Turbo?

The turbo has 220bhp and if you get a Plus version you get Recaros' date=' 6-speed box, bodykit and push-button start. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and 155mph top speed. You'll get plenty of looks too![/quote']

So why am I driving a Skoda? :rubchin:

Have you seen the servicing costs for the Coupe? ;)

Mx5 had one loved it brilliant in everyway except space for over six footers.

Oh yes... spot on the button there with that comment (and I'll ignore the later ones re girlfriends and get back onto MX5's).

They are still probably the best cheap sportscar around (rear wheel drive with fantastic handling... the Mk1 even more so than the Mk2 or Mk2.5... Autocar best handling car of 2004... again) and I'm not biased at all :D .

There really is no comparison with the like of MGF's or some of the front drive supposed sports cars mentioned (and yes I have driven many of them).

They are also generally bullet-proof and utterly reliable, which is more than can be said for the head-gasket-blowing F and it's ilk! I know of owners with 14 year old FI'd cars with 150k mls on the clock showing no signs of dying or rusting!

If the lack of power is a concern then the engine was originally designed to be turbocharged and takes readily to both turbo and supercharging giving up to 240bhp!

There is also an excellent community of owners through the OC and various forums.

12K should get you an excellent S/H late model car, or a very good car a few years older and Forced Induction.

Wasn't being funny about the MX5 :) We were down to a choice of two cars,Fabia vRS or MX5. Fabia won on price, economy, insurance etc.

My point was simply that some of the cars mentioned would not really take a woman's fancy( as mentioned above, the Supra etc)

It is finding a sub

Yeah, but they are only high if you go through a Fiat dealer. They'll charge
