Build week not allocated - is this common / usual ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new on this site and hence apologise for any inadvertent "protocol" gaffes.

I ordered a Skoda Yeti 170bhp 4x4 Elegance on 21 Dec 2010 thru' Autofinders and paid a £500 deposit by credit card - I was initially told that the vehicle would be built in the second week of Feb 2011 and I would get my vehicle in end March 2011. I have repeatedly rung Autofinders and have been consistently told that the build week has not been allocated - in other words,I do not have a clue as to when my Yeti will be delivered.

Is this something that happens often ? Is there anyway if I can find out what is going on ?

Thanks for your help.

You should have a build week by now, though it's not much use since it is likely to change several times before you finally receive a confirmed build week a couple of weeks before your car is actually built. You could contact Skoda UK with your order number (which your dealer should have given you) and they should be able to give you a provisional build week. As an example, however, my order was placed on 6th October and I was told 14 to 20 weeks to delivery. I have since been quoted: build weeks 1,17, 18, 20, then back to 17 which was confirmed on Friday. This is for a 2.0 140 DSG Elegance with a few options. I strongly suggest that you do not rely on build week information as a basis for planning anything until it is confirmed. Transport from factory to dealer adds a further 2 to 3 weeks.

I hope this is helpful, Paul

Thanks Paul - shall give them a call tomorrow.

I ordered our Yeti (similar spec) about the same date, but not expecting ours till the end of May. We have a provisional build date of Wk 18, with a few weeks to delivery/PDI etc.

Ordered mine 17th sept last year, eventually got confirmed on build week 12, it got stuck at emden for about 2 ands a half weeks now its at grimsby awaiting a transporter to my dealer, who said once in grimsby it should be with me or them within 7 to 10 days cant remember which.

anyway hopefully sometime in this next 6 days i should get the good news.

Sounds to me Multibagger if the dealer has given you a date which is way too optimistic.

I ordered my basic Yeti on November 6 and it's now April 17 and I'm still waiting for it, although it has been built in Week 13 and is awaiting shipping at Emden.

I'm hoping to get mine later this week or perhaps the following week so I'd say on that basis don't expect to see yours much before the beginning of June.

3 months is very optimistic, with deliveries taking 5-8 months for the diesels.

Build weeks move all the time until about 2 weeks before, then it is confirmed.

i ordered my 170 on 1st March also from Autofinders. i was given a build date within a couple of weeks (15 August)

Unfortunately, as pointed out on this forum over and over again, build weeks are totally meaningless until they are just two weeks away - your car may be built before or after any forward date you have at the moment and no-one will be able to give you accurate information about that. There is no apparent logic to build weeks, either: cars with the same basic spec and options ordered at the same time may be built weeks apart. You'll just have to be very patient and don't pin your hopes on anything months in the future!

I would quote for a 170CR circa 7/8 months from order to handover at the moment.

Just had a phone call from my Skoda dealer to say that I can expect to pick up my Yeti next week. Ordered 5th Feb !! :D 2.0 TDI Elegance in Muscovado with Gobi interior. So lead times could be reducing, don't give up hope!!

Which engine? 110/140/170 ?

110 engine. When I ordered I was given 6-8 months lead time and 26 March I was given build week 16 but expect it to be moved right.

Hi James,

What's the current lead time on 1.2tsi models? I know it used to be around 12 weeks is this still the case or have they become more difficult to obtain.

I ordered an Elegance with spare wheel and front parking sensors on Feb 9th should I be getting excited yet?

I really should act my age and remain calm! :-)

1.2TSi Yetis seem to be coming through in 3-4 months. I'd say you should have a build week by now and it might even be confirmed. Can't hurt to find out! There is trouble with supply of parking sensors at the moment which could contribute to a small delay in your order.

Enjoy your Yeti when it arrives though!

Thanks for the reply James, think it may have dented my optimism a little :'( , never mind will give my dealer a call and hope for the best.
