Ive had my OCTY VRS TFSI for about 3. 5 years now and shes covered a good few 78K miles without too many issues, although shes been a little neglected in the last year due to me getting made redundant from work ..

She needs - New Front Shocks also The Flywheel is knocking when changing gear and needs replacing - assume this will mean it needs its first ever clutch replacing as well

The brake discs need doing as well and Im still debating whether its the time for a Cambelt change or risk it a bit longer

Questions peeps

Is replacing the shocks and also the break discs possible, for a man on a mission, with a jack or two, a whole lot of effort, an extra pair of hands and some good information ? :-) - Can it be done or is there alot of problems involved ?

Ive been quoted about £500 !!! just for the audi parts for the clutch & Flywheel and thats before fitting and labour charges !! , anyone know of somewhere local(ish)who they can recommend pricewise but who still does a first rate job ?

The old girl is still running fine but has become a bit of a grumbler every now and then so needs a little TLC .. but as

inexpenssive as poss due to my job nosedive :-P

Garage spotted it at last service (couple of months back), and the MOT was just after that service, they spotted liquid coming out of one of the shocks (and noted so on my MOT report)

Front left is also very clunky when going over speed humps

There is a place on ebay that sell Monroe Sports shocks, They are quite cheap but work well. I found the biggest change in front suspension by changing my wishbone bushes. Before these were changed it felt loose, clunky and crashy over bumps, and squeaky over speed bumps. The bushes cured all these symptoms.

£500 is about right just for the clutch and flywheel, whats the reasons for the dualmass flywheel in a petrol?

I suspect I damaged mine when hitting a hidden pothole late one night doing about 50 ish ... Burst the tire and scared the life out of me ... It took one helluva knock that time, plus it doesnt help with the local councils wasting dosh on the shed loads of new speed humps theyre sticking up left right and centre ... might be more worthwhile to spend it on fixing the potholes guys !!
