Hi all, first post. I've checked through search and can't find this answer; are Fabia/Octavia rear wiper assemblies interchangable? I've been checking the pics. on Ebay and (though limited) they look very similar. Was just hoping someone here might have experiance.

Hatch or estate? The rear wiper motor assemblies are different between the hatch and estate. The hatch allows for the washer pipe to be passed through it, where as that isn't the case for the estate, as the washer jet is mounted in the high-level brake light.

I'd be very interested to know if there is a modern (ie flatblades) mods for the standard rear wiper on a hatchback - i believe the estate can use a golf mk5 rear wiper as a straight swap

You never did say whether you were asking about the hatch or estate, but the wiper motor for the Octy Hatch only fits the Octy Hatch. The ones for other models, Fabia, MkIV Golf etc. look similar, but the part numbers are different.

Don't know about the Estate, but its probably a similar situation.

Try it an see :-) Guess it should be quite easy to check the various measurements out. I imagine the attachment to the motor/spindle must be pretty universal (apart from the washer hose on the hatches).

How old is your Mk1?

There are two different type depending on whether the car (hatch) is a pre 2004 model year or post.

Earlier type has a normal wiper arm, later has a plastic cover over the blade.

mine is an 05 plate - rear wiper has the cover
