Mk1 Octavia Engine Blanket

Featured Replies

Did any of the Mk1 Octavia's have an engine blanket fitted? I have just had a noisekiller kit fitted to my vRS and wanted to complete it with an engine blanket. Any info appreciated.

Many Thanks

A what?

Engine blanket as in the piece of sound proofing that clips to the underside of the bonnet.

Never seen one.

I cant imagine this would do much good for heak soak? I have never seen one of a MK1 vRS before.

Diesels have sound deadening material fitted. Certainly my 2001 110TDI does.

Why the need anyway, the 1.8 engine is hardly a rip snorting piece of kit to begin with.

I have one of those from a diesel octavia, but the noise reduction from the engine is next to nothing.

Doesn't worth in my opinion

My 4x4 never had any sound deadening under the bonnet either but I got a new one from eBay for a tenner. Doesn't seem to make much difference to be honest. Wonder how much noisier a diesel is without one?

At diesel in not about noise blocking ,this "blanket" stops the resonance in the engine bay.

The petrol engines are much smoother and nonresonating.
