New car rubber

Featured Replies

While having a look around my fresh off the transporter yet unprepared SM , I noticed it was shod with Dunlop Sport tyres (17"). Are these the normally supplied tyre and if so, how do owners find them regarding grip, noise, durability etc. ?

There the standard tyres supplied with the Yeti at the moment. Mine make a bit of noise over broken road surfaces - pretty much all the roads where I live. Haven't found the limit of grip yet in mainly normal driving. Too early to say how they are wearing (less than 3k miles)

+1 to all of this! I also had these tyres on my Octavia Scout and they still had some life in them when I traded it in with 23,500 on the clock.

Our Yeti came with these and we replaced them (with Nokian all-season tyres) at around 18k, although they could have probably been pushed for another 2k at least. Other than the limitations in bad weather with any summer tyres, we were quite happy with them. I also have them on my XF, where they both wear and perform significantly better than the Pirellis which were supplied by Jaguar.

Mine has the Dunlop boots and has now done just short of 20k and I reckon there is still at least another 4k left before the fronts are on the wear tags. Grip has been excellent, wet or dry, plus they got me to and from work (48 miles each way across Wales) every day in the snow with very few problems. They have also been used off-road frequently, from deep mud to gravel tracks, with no problems.

I've got them too, 13k miles and going strong. Swapped fronts with backs at about 10k. Should be good to at least 18/20k, judging by the way they're wearing. Pretty good on all roads - I'm pleased with them and see no reason to change. Drove to the Alps and back a month/6 weeks ago at 80mph most of the way. Smooth and quiet running on the motorways.

mine did 18k before i replaced them all together a couple of months ago, when the car was 10 months old, or so.

Like Llanigraham mine dealt with the winter extremely well, with no need for concerns on the snow at all.

Grip is all I could wish for on these twisty Welsh lanes, and the noise levels? Well - I don't have anything similar for comparison, and when the stereo is on I am not aware of anything else at all.

Still well short of the legal minimum (or the wear markers) after 15000 miles. All four are wearing fairly evenly. Reckon I'm good for another 10000 miles yet. Pretty good grip (includes a fair bit of off-road use, too), and not bad for noise either. Had these tyres on my last Octy - used them up in about 22000 miles on the front. Replaced all four with Michelin Pilots, and got loads more miles out of them. Not sure if they're available in Yeti size. But, I'll probably go for something "tougher" when I replace.

If there Goodyear's then they will be Excellence in 215/60 R16 95H size.

Mines built a couple of weeks after yours but on Moon alloys with Continental PremiumContact 2. Wife has these on her Fabia; noisy is all I can say :S Think your better off with the Goodyears :)

These exact same tyres are on my Octavia Scout (225/50 R17 94W) - Dunlop SP Sport 01.

I'm now looking for another four as they are all on the wear bars, they've done 24,000 miles so no complaints!

Good grip, quiet and great life.

Only problem is they are around £140 per corner - ouch!

Might be worth trying these as an alternative;

Nice to see you have Tango at last, looks very nice from the photos in the other thread :)

As a comparison to the Spectrum alloy heres a close up of the same sized Moon pattern;

Hi Graham,

standard saloon fare PremiumContact 2.

From experiance with these tyres on my wife's current and previous cars there not a bad summer tyre, although they can get a bit noisy and the wear rate can be high. In cold winter weather however there quite poor and totally useless in snow.

TP

Thanks Tim, that is what I have been offered.......don't think I'll bother!

Looks like it will be either Kumho or Hankook's then.
